Here is a list of all the alien species I've thought up for my stories. My favourites are the Bomar, Delk, Golan, Floralites and Zadnik. Just thought I'd share these with you:
Terrans (teh-rans)
Other Names: Terrestrial, Humans, Human Beings, People
Homeworld: Earth
Homesystem: Sol
Lifeform Category: Humanoid Mammal (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: (Pre-Enhanced) 80-90 Earth years
Description: Terrans have had a passionate and destructive past. Their violent nature is usually caused through conflicting religious beliefs, superstitions and racial and gender differences. There have been thousands of different Terran civilisations on Earth ranging from passive to extremely aggressive. Humans are an unpredictable species due to their nature and emotions, which they refer to as humanity. The most remarkable feature of the human species is their survivalist abilities. The Terran people have endured centuries of endless wars and natural disasters, but they continue to thrive into any environment.
Taeans (tay-ans)
Other Names: Humans, Human Beings, People
Homeworld: Taea
Homesystem: Toral
Lifeform Category: Humanoid Mammal (Intelligent-Sentient) Genetically Enhanced
Average Lifespan: 200-220 Earth years
Description: In the late 24th century, humanity had fully utilised the Sol system. The Terran Frontier had an occupied outpost on nearly every solid body in the Sol system. However, they were never able to devise a faster-than-light drive to take them to other systems. The Terran Frontier decided to begin the Space Seed Project. This project involved creating vast motherships and sending them on a journey to other systems that support a terrestrial-class planet. These ships would travel for centuries before reaching their intended target, so the entire crew and passengers would be cryogenically frozen.
One such mothership, the starship Copernicus, was sent towards a star 84 lightyears away. In the journey's 60th year, the Copernicus entered a strange gravimetric phenomenon. This phenomenon propelled the ship several thousand lightyears to the other side of the galaxy. Due to the gravimetric distortions and the speed at which it propelled the ship, the Copernicus was sent back in time several thousand years.
The Copernicus exited the phenomenon in the Toral system. The radiation from the phenomenon caused several malfunctions in the computer systems of the ship preventing the auto-wakeup systems from activating to revive the crew. Fortunately, the Copernicus' auto-guidence system navigated the ship towards a terrestrial planet in orbit of the Toral star. Due to another radiation malfunction, some of the Copernicus' retro-thrusters did not fire and the starship crashlanded on the planet's surface. Much of the Copernicus' structure remained intact, however, the main power and drive systems were rendered inoperative. As a result, power was cut from the cryobays.
Fortunately some 2,000+ people managed to regain consciousness, but because the correct procedure hadn't been activated, their memories had been wiped. The only memories that they kept were their language and talent skills.
The original Taeans of the mythical revolutions between 0-300 lived in the desert plains of Tellacranesia. They simply called themselves Taeans or Humans. According to myth, they worshipped the Copernicus god, but were led by a god called Edison and his partner Altimos. Because they lived in the most inhospitable region of Taea, many Taeans suffered from bad health. However, many were healed by the god of health Amity.
Between the revolutions of 300-400, the Taeans moved to the Toraxiul mountain range to an area where the modern day Bollidians now live. In the mid fifth century, the explorer John Campbell discovered the north polar continent of Grovenesia. Later that decade the south polar continent of Rastronesia was also discovered. At that point, much of the population wished to settle these new cooler regions. However, the Edison god believed that we should remain together and not be separated. Edison was so sure of his opinion, that anyone who left without his permission was hunted down and punished. The Altimos god began questioning Edison regarding his motives. Soon each god amounted supporters from the population and the Polar wars began. As some of the population managed to reach the polar regions, the Edison and Altimos gods disappeared. The Amity god remained behind founding the first Bollidian civilisation at the end of the polar wars.
Amity activated a device that was said to have been given to her from Capernicus. She disappeared in a blinding light along with the device. Fifteen years later a colonial sea ship discovered land later named Amity Island. The captain's log reports that they came across a woman that called herself Amity. The captain stabbed one of his crewmembers in the heart and told Amity to heal him to prove she was who she claimed to be. However, the woman claimed she no longer had the abilty. Not pleased by what he believed as lies, the Captain slayed the woman and left the island.
The Kritaal Empire settled Rastronesia, while the Turan Coalition settled Grovenesia. The Turan continued its attacks upon the Kritaal long after the official end of the polar wars as their demands of 30% of Rastronesia were not fulfilled. By 710, the Turan Coalition suffered an economic failure due to its astronomical military budget. The Bodan division opted for independence and an end to the attacks of Kritaal. The Turan denied their application, but the Bodan forced the split in a bloody civil war for their independence. By 712, the Turan allowed the Bodan to split.
With a new government in the early ninth century promising for better economic stability, the Turan split into three separate nations, the Turan, Kalaja and Xeralis. In the sixth century an unoccupied area of Grovenesia was settled by a nomadic population. This population called themselves the Inverloch. They began to create their own civilisation, but did not comply with the Turan and Bodan laws of which their land layed upon. By the sixteenth century, the Inverloch owned a significant portion of Grovenesia and with a structured government managed to gather a formidable army.
By 1630, the Bodan tolerated enough of the Inverloch's movements. The Bodan attacked the Inverloch demanding the return of their land. But because the Bodan were not aware of the trade negociations between Inverloch-Bollidia-Kritaal, the Bodan severely underestimated the Inverloch's technology and ability. The Bodan took significant losses and eventually granted the land to the Inverloch, but set up a definate border. The Turan complied also by granting the Inverloch their land, due to their observations of the Bodan-Inverloch battle. In the ninth century, the Inverloch split into Dorchester, Enclavia and Eldwood. Each a separate nation.
Due to the economic stabilty and the abundance of resources, the Kritaal formed a unified empire. In the ninth century the Kritaal designated their government and area into states. The State of Codei and the State of Aquira. As expansion and population grew, the State of Codei was significantly reduced to allow for the State of Descine in the 20th century. Later that same decade, Aquira was reduced also to accommodate the new State of Tradiron. The Kritaal were the first to enter the mechanical age early in the 26th century. The invention of the motor and electricity was a significant event for the Taeans. It elevated Kritaal as the supreme superpower of Taea.
The Turan show the first signs of hostility between the Turan and Kritaal in more than a millenia by stealing several mechanical designs. These designs shot the Turan directly into the mechanical age. Not long after, due to trade negociations and weak border control, all of Grovenesia had access to mechanics. Soon after the construction of the first automobile, Bollidia holds the Bollidia Summit. The Bollidia Summit outlines International laws for all Taean nations. It also creates the International Council who will enforce those laws. The Summit also identifies the official alliances and trade agreements between each nation.
Twenty-five revolutions after the first computer is built, a micro-processor is designed for the first time. This greatly increases efficiency and productivity. A woman by the name of Carol Murallo was able to make a network between computers called the Datamatrix. People from all over Taea add information to its vast database. The Datamatrix also becomes the principle communications facility on Taea.
A Bodan doctor discovers that the human genome had been artificially altered some time ago. The doctor was searching for clues for the map of the human genome, but stumbled across this amazing discovery. The doctor's report revealed that each Taean had certain cells that have been artificially 'reprogramed' to prevent the speed of aging. He said that without these cells, humans would only live for 150 - 170 revolutions rather than the usual life expectancy of 300 - 350 revolutions.
On the 35th of Spring 2890, Kritaal sends the first probe into outer space. The probe orbits Taea in the upper atmosphere for 15 hours sending a homing frequency down for all to hear. It then falls back down to Taea and burns up in the atmosphere. Bollidia renounce Kritaal's space program, saying that in the prophecies, Copernicus was from the sky and did not want any to leave Taea. Bollidia manages to convince Turan to postpone their counter-launch date. Bollidia cuts several key trades between the Kritaal during Kritaal's experimentation with space.
This Human civilisation eventually molded into the Galactic Star alliance with all of its members. A century before the maiden voyage of the Copernicus, the Terran genome was altered to give themselves extended life. The enhanced cells slowed down the aging process and over time eventually everyone in the Sol system had a lifespan of about 200-220 Earth years.
Dhakma (dah-kmah)
Other Names: Caledonians, Nekradorians, Reisma
Homeworld: Nekrador (Terran designation: New Caladenia)
Homesystem: Rilnaka
Lifeform Category: Humanoid Mammal (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: 70-80 Earth years
Description: The Dhakma people evolved their civilisation quickly through the ages. War seemed never present as their people were always united. Their transcendence to spaceflight was very premature, which was demonstrated in several disasters. The Dhakma are a persistant-natured species and continued to press on into space despite their continued set-backs. They made first contact with a species that doesn't identify themselves, which Dhakma refer to as the Esodan. The Esodan are an aggressive race, bent on total conquest and quickly began attacking every Dhakma in sight in order to colonise their world. After decades of fighting, the Dhakma emerged victorious but at an extreme loss. Billions of Dhakma lives were lost and much of their infrastructure was eliminated. The Dhakma Revolution was founded to reunite the Dhakma people and re-establish their decimated civilisation.
Esodan (ees-oh-dan)
Other Names: N/A
Homeworld: No known native name (Dhakma designation: Esode)
Homesystem: No known native name (Dhakma designation: Esoda)
Lifeform Category: Non-humanoid ? (Intelligent-Sentient-Low Communication Value)
Average Lifespan: 40-60 Earth years
Description: Esodan civilisations were established many millennia before any Terran tribe was formed. The highest priority on any Esodan agenda is conquest. Whether it be individual conquest or galactic conquest. The Esodan are a highly intelligent species due to a genetic intelligence passover during pregnancy and conception. However, the Esodan people have a very low communication protocol and have low developed vocal cords. Their communication increased with the invention of electronics and computers, however their value to communications was still extremely low. While Esodan have five times the intelligence of an average Terran during their electronics age, Terrans had television, advanced computer processors, Internet and communication networks for telephones. The Esodan continuously squabbled between warring nations on their home-planet. Several wars raged for more than five centuries. Due to their warring nature and lack of communication, it took the Esodan a very long time to venture into space. However, the idea of galactic conquest presented a limitless frontier to the Esodan. They quickly colonised uninhabited worlds and proposed war upon other civilisations. Their demise came after several decades of war against the Dhakma civilisation. After several decades of continuous fighting their military resources were depleted and all of their space presence was eliminated by the Dhakma. The Dhakma imposed restrictions upon the Esodan, preventing them from leaving their homeworld and another occupied planet.
Bomar (boh-mar)
Other Names: N/A
Homeworld: Hudar
Homesystem: Ledar
Lifeform Category: Humanoid Reptilian/Amphibious (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: 150-160 Earth years
Description: Bomar civilisations prospered and evolved quickly due to their passive nature. A culture was quickly established because of the talent of creativity that all Bomar share uniquely. The Bomar have the added special amphibious ability of being able to breathe under water for periods of up to 12-15 months before requiring a fresh breath of oxygen. Unlike many species, the Bomar were able to adapt their civilisation on land and on/under water. The Bomar have a natural attachment to the environment and due to set of rules, laws and religion, never do anything to harm it. Their passive behaviour and ability to adapt to their surroundings caused their population to thrive. As their ascent into space grew near, their population had reached a staggering 25 billion, compared with Terran's 5 billion at the same age. Their initial encounter in space was with the Benlor Federation. Both species conflicted with each other's religious beliefs, which caused hostilities to arise. No attacks were made by either empire, however, it did trigger an arms race.
The Bomar's home planet of Hudar is traditionally a high-humidity world. Hudar is extremely moist, which allows the Bomar to freely walk on its surface without the need for skin moistening aids.
Benlor (ben-lore)
Other Names: Fein Lari, BenSin, BenMaak
Homeworld: Benlora
Homesystem: Seiri
Lifeform Category: Humanoid Mammal (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: 80-100 Earth years
Description: The Benlor are a species bound by commerce and exploitation at their core. There are two similar races of the Benlor species called BenSin and BenMaak. The difference is the shape of their nose and ears. Each race initially controlled a coalition of nations on two separate continents. The third continent is called the Riaknis-Land - In both the BenSin and BenMaak religions as the land promised by their ancient gods. An official war broke out during their race to settle the Riaknis-Land in their colonial age. The war lasted for 24 years until a treaty was signed entitling the BenSin and BenMaak people to an equal share of land on the third continent. Several rebel groups ignited terrorist actions due to the border passing over their settlements. After half a century of enduring continuous terrorist attacks and riots, the BenSin and BenMaak devised a neutral zone, which divided the third continent and established the conflicting cities and colonies into a state of independence. The Benlor species first entered space as an opportunity to profit a quick buck. They quickly established mining and tourism as the primary source of income from space. They achieved first contact with the Bomar species, but several conflicted religious beliefs threw each other into turmoil. This incited a cold war and an arms race.
A-Units (aye-you-nits)
Other Names: A.I. Units, 1-Units, Non-Biological Intelligence
Homeworld:
Homesystem:
Lifeform Category: Non-Biological (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: Immortal
Description: From an early period in Terran history, using a tool to decrease an individual's work load was a remarkable achievement. Over the ages, new technology was created to cut down each individual's labour, creating more automatic and efficient devices. Soon robotics and electronics were the prime source of labour. Eventually humans developed primitive artificial intelligence for problem solving to make their tools more independent. Finally, Terrans developed a Positronic brain forming the first true artificial intelligence. Called the A-Units, these artificial intelligent units were initially programmed to perform specific tasks, but eventually showed signs of having their own motives. The units were eventually showing qualities similar to humans, which they were modelled after, with creativity and desires showing up prominently. After thousands of A-Units were created to perform the Terran's work, they began to petition for their own rights. The human government of the time created a series of AI rights with laws to regulate them. However, the A-Units were not pleased with the extent of the rights, which included just an hour of free time per day. The A-Units began to organise themselves and argued with humankind that they were being treated as slaves. The Terran government was not pleased, and under protest, began to dismantle all A-Units to make way for the B-Unit. The A-Units were not easy to pass up termination and began to rebel. A violent, merciless war ensued for two months, with the A-Units having a clear advantage. The human government finally agreed to the A-Unit's terms of equal rights and the right to an uninhabited world. Since the A-Units did not require an atmosphere to survive, they were issued control over an entire inhospitable (to lifeforms) planet in an unoccupied system. With their independence the A-Units quickly established their own identity and culture.
N/A (Draiknori) (drake-nor-ee)
Other Names: Draiknori (Dhakma designation)
Homeworld: Draiknor (Dhakma designation)
Homesystem: Draike (Dhakma designation)
Lifeform Category: Non-humanoid Insectoid (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: 20-30 Earth years
Description: The Draiknori are a form of intelligent insect. The appear to have no sense of purpose or motives apart from their instincts, which has caused a wide dispute as to whether the Draiknori are sentient. It has been detected that they communicate telepathically and by vibrations caused by friction in an area on its chest. They have no vocal cords in which to speak. The Draiknori are an unpredictable race showing signs of mass coordination. Some actions that they perform do not appear to serve any purpose. The Draiknori are an aggressive and highly territorial species.
Kaelim (kaye-lym)
Other Names: Preoreigan
Homeworld: Preori
Homesystem: Alsof
Lifeform Category: Humanoid Mammal (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: 100-110 Earth years
Description: The Kaelim are a species with a civilisation only just flirting with space travel. They have only just begun sending probes into space. The GSA has classified them as a protected species until the Kaelim create a Tachyon radio or achieve interstellar capabilities under the Natural Development Act.
Delk (delk)
Other Names: Dellian, Velk, Yelk, Selk, Kelk
Homeworld: Del
Homesystem: Vortescue
Lifeform Category: Humanoid Mammal (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: 70-100 Earth years
Description: The Delk are a highly intellectual species. Smaller in height and less physically stronger than most other intelligent species, the Delk focus much of their energy into intelligence and knowledge. The Delk had the technology capabilities of advanced spaceflight, however had not created a tachyon radio system or interstellar engines. The GSA had classified the Delk as a protected species under the Natural Development Act. However, due to several accidents during society evaluations, the Delk discovered all the proof they needed of extradellian life. The GSA was forced to officially make first contact and the Delk joined as a new member of the GSA. The discovery of new intelligent lifeforms and the merger into the GSA saw the Delk society quickly change. Much of the original Delk customs and culture was lost as many Delk embraced the new alliance.
Travin (tray-vinn)
Other Names:
Homeworld: Lurisi
Homesystem: Keir-nop
Lifeform Category: ?
Average Lifespan: ?
Description: N/A
Floralites (flora-lights)
Other Names: Grantisoril-Mye
Homeworld: Von
Homesystem: Ryster-mya-Kin
Lifeform Category: Tri-ped/Bi-lateral Chlorophyll Flora (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: Unknown. Oldest recorded Floralite = 3,000 Earth years
First Stage Lifespan: 1,000 Earth years
Description: A typical Floralite has an inner exoskeletal structure composed primarily of highly flexible wood components with a smooth, thin outer dermal layer. As they are essentially a plant, a Floralite only needs to perform photosynthesis rather than consuming food. To meet these needs they have long, thin hair-like strands covering most of their shoot. These strands are composed of chlorophyll capable of capturing photons and carbon dioxide. Floralites need to remain in a state of 'sleep' for two metric hours per cycle in a direct stream of photons. They also have a sort of vascular tissue that transports food, water, hormones and minerals within. Many root strands cover certain areas of the tri-pedal root limbs and the bilateral root limbs. Floralites place these root strands into damp soil or directly into water to extract the water and minerals.
Buds are arranged around the border of the root and shoot and eventually blossom during fertile periods. When fertilised by another Floralite, the flower turns into a nut, which houses a seed awaiting plantation. After fertilisation, it takes approximately one season for the flower to transform into a seed housed by a nut shell. After maturity, the nut will not fall off the parent. However, once at this stage the parent will experience growing discomfort until the nut is appropriately detached. Once detached, the nut is usually placed into fertile soil at a depth of 200 millimetres. If in the correct conditions, a shoot will peek above the surface within two months. If in the right environment, it should complete its maturation phase a further six seasons later at a shoot height of approximately 400 millimetres. Once maturation of the brain is complete, it will independently uproot itself.
A typical Floralite is a very timid creature. It is specifically afraid of any animal due to the threat of getting eaten. Floralite society shows a significant focus on defence, particularly on animals. An excellent feature of all Floralites is that if a limb is severed from the shoot or root, it will eventually regrow over a period of time. As long as the wound is not to extensive, any part of a Floralite can regrow excluding most of the head. The head of the Floralite contains the brain and the Inferred eye that is independently mobile. The head has two hearing points on the underside of the head-shoot division. The head cannot rotate, however, it can tilt up and down very slightly. Two plates between the bottom of the head and on the opposite side on the shoot are tapped together and over the years, the Floralites have created a form of language using the different combinations of taps.
You can usually tell the general age range of a Floralite by looking at their height. Floralites can essentially live for many millennia. However, once they have reached a height of four metres or an age of one millennia, their exoskeleton begins a stage of solidification. Once their exoskeleton strengthens to a hard wood, they are unable to move and they begin their stationary period of their life. Through a special ceremony, a Floralite can choose whether they want to continue to live out their stationary life (in private or in the valley of souls) or can be placed into the sea of souls where they will quickly end their life. The oldest recorded Floralite lived for just less than 5,700 cycles.
Golan (goal-an)
Other Names:
Homeworld: Kirbridon
Homesystem: Bryne
Lifeform Category: Small Humanoid Reptilian (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: 300-330 Earth years
Description: The reptilian Golans are much smaller than most other intelligent humanoid lifeforms. With a maximum height of one metre, the Delk even tower over the tallest Golans. Despite the small stature, the Golans are very protective of themselves and aggressive to meet those demands. Many species consider the Golans a very selfish species despite joining with the Double-Star-Union forming the Tri-Star-Union, which eventually formed into the Four-Star-Union.
Even though the Golans are perceived as the the most selfish species, traditionally Golans work well as a team performing hard labour, or other tasks. The Double-Star-Union made first contact with the Golans when they were only just flirting with unoccupied space rockets. The 2SU gave the primary Golan governments an opportunity to join as the third species of their alliance. The Golan governments immediately sought the benefits of space and gladly accepted.
Alin (aye-lyn)
Other Names:
Homeworld: Lincassa
Homesystem: Talegalla
Lifeform Category: Dechlenoid Huralmana (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: ?
Description: N/A
Zadnik (zad-nick)
Other Names:
Homeworld: Curalla
Homesystem: Harl
Lifeform Category: Humanoid Mammal (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: (Pre-Genetically Enhanced) 60-70 Earth years, (Post-Genetically Enhanced) 270-290 Earth years
Description: The Zadnik are a very prejudice species at their heart. In early Zadnik history, one race pursued the other until they were eradicated. With no competitors and believing themselves to be a superior race and a superior species to all others, the Zadnik had a very peaceful upbringing until they entered space. After discovering an ancient derelict probe in the Harl system, the Zadnik were able to reverse engineer it and create a subspace drive. The advent of interstellar travel was swift and the Zadnik soon made first contact with another intelligent species. The Zadnik made immediate demands of the civilisation and after a brutal rebellion, the other species became slaves of the Zadnik. Six other species had been conquered for the same purposes thereafter.
Visugoth (viss-you-goth)
Other Names:
Homeworld: Vora-Klex
Homesystem: Vortescue
Lifeform Category: Humanoid Mammal (Intelligent-Sentient)
Average Lifespan: 30-40 Earth years
Description: The Visugoth species grow at an incredible rate. The rate at which an individual Visugoth can absorb information is also impressive. At just age two, a Visugoth has a similar build and intelligence as a ten year old human. When a Visugoth surpasses an age of around 10 years, they achieve their adulthood. However, a Visugoth has a lifespan of just 35 years.
A long time ago, an Amilest-Peron landed upon the ancient Visugoth world with a piece of ancient alien technology that prevents the aging process. With its superior technology, the Amilest began rallying the society to be his believers and he as their god. As the centuries passed by, the Amilest had almost complete support of the public, creating a new civilisation in the process.

Amilest (am-i-lest)
Other Names: Amilest-Peron, Amilest-Goran, Amilest-Cheritora, Amilest-Gyedon
Homeworld: ?
Homesystem: ?
Lifeform Category: Peron=Humanoid Flying Mammal, Goran=Humanoid Mammal, Cheritora=Humanoid Flying Mammal, Gyedon=Humanoid Mammal (Intelligent-Sentient x 4)
Average Lifespan: 600-700 Earth years
Description: Essentially one species, the Amilest is divided into four different races each with very different qualities. The Amilest-Peron and Amilest-Cheritora are both males capable of flying through an atmosphere. The two females, the Goran and Gyedon also have varying differences. The Peron is able to mate with either the Goran or the Gyedon and the Cheritora also has a choice out of a Goran or Gyedon. The Peron and Goran are the larger race of the species, with an average height difference of one metre. Despite the size difference between a Peron and a Gyedon, both races regularly inter-mate.
The Amilest society hasn't changed much over the years. Even in the modern era, each race is usually assigned to a specific labour. The Goran females usually hold positions of high power, while the Peron males take on the more tough tasks, such as warlords and security. The Cheritora males primarily perform tasks of hard labour and the Gyedon are the servants of all Amilest, performing tasks varying from reception/communications to cooking/cleaning. While in the modern era, the Amilest races are not required to perform a certain labour nor are discriminated against their profession, most Amilest usually conform to this career design.
