Freespace 2 #44 Best Games of All Time
Not sure if anyone else knows about a video game show out of Canada called Reviews on the Run. They did a top 100 games and movies of all time last year, and I just realized that Freespace 2 hit #44 on the list:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOqNTME0eUE

Full lists are here:
http://www.reviewsontherun.com/all/spotlight/top-100-games-movies/

Or #41-50:
http://epdaily.tv/all/type-of/features/top-100-games-50-41/

Freespace beat out Assassin's creed series and homeworld on this one page alone.

They give some mention to the modding community as well. Forgive me if this was already posted but I did a search and nothing came up

Awesome, totally deserved!
Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move." - Captain America

Yeah they have a top 100 movies list and a top 100 games list (200 picks total). The show reviews Blu Rays and theatrical movies as well because it's a daily show that goes 5 days a week. Not enough game content for 2.5 hours of show every week :)

I hate school.

The show is based out of Vancouver (British Columbia, not Washington). Though they have teams in Toronto and California (San Francisco). I live in Vancouver and have seen both Scott and Victor walking around or eating lunch, and one of the places at which I worked was not too far from their studio.

If you're interested you can watch all of their shows online, both Reviews on the Run (Bluray, IOS and game reviews) and EP Daily (previews, other entertainment). They also have a podcast called Vic's Basement which is pretty enjoyable:

http://epdaily.tv/vics-basement/

They've had a few notable guests on vic's basement, including one of the directors on Halo 4, few actors, or the guy who made . . . Retro City Rampage, etcetera.

They moan that it can't be played in non-Windows systems.  :doubt:

They mention the unmentionable FS3.  :ick:

Beyond that - awesome heads-up.

Yeah but only because they want the game to have a larger audience.

Re: Freespace 2 #44 Best Games of All Time
Way cool! I'm glad he mentioned that it is still very accessible and that the SCP is in existance. The footage was excellent too, some of the best moments (cap ships, bomb chasing) were present. Proper shout out to the game, I wouldn't doubt if we get a few more added to the community because of that spot!

Funny though, the video to me looked like FSO + mediavps and FSO *is* cross-platform

I think they're talking about consoles and other devices when they want it cross platform. Most of the games they review on the show are on consoles as well as PC, or sometimes consoles exclusively.
Hell who wouldn't want to play it in front of a tv with a joystick and some small button peripheral?

I could be wrong though, maybe they're not aware it's available for Mac and Linux (if that is indeed the case?)

Ah, consoles, right, didn't consider that.

Yes, FSO is certainly available for and supported on OSX and Linux :)

Re: Freespace 2 #44 Best Games of All Time
I was thinking about cross-platform support when I griped (we've got that), but I must admit I hadn't thought about consoles. Good point
