Hey out there,
i hope i am allowed to ask a question, regarding the change of the game language.
As maybe every one know, you can change FreeSpace 2 language in the Windows registry if you add a value called "Language" with value "german", "french" or any other language that exist in (t)strings.tbl.
But how you can change the language, if you do not have a Registry? Like in some Standalone TC's or in the MacOS or Linux releases of FreeSpace Open?
FreeSpace 2 lacks the possibility of showing Umlauts like ä, ö, and ü and accentsymbols like é, both used especially in the german release or in german and french speaking user-made campaigns. You can reactivate them if you use the font01.vf from the German version of FreeSpace 2 (or the french one, of course). But if you use this file, the game language is set automatically to german. You can change the language back to english if you, like i said, use the "Language" registry entry on Windows. But how i can perform this, if i do not have this possibility? Is there something like a custom flag or anything like that, without replacing all #german or #french entries in the (t)strings.tbl with the #English ones?
