Needs more nebula fog between the two ships, and I don't think the Lysander was practically inside the Ravanna when it got hit.

Well, you need to work on your beams, of course. Nebula layering would be nice too. And the Ravana looks a mite too big for that Deimos... p'raps if the picture was Widescreen, with the beams from the Ravana ripping through the Deimos at the far right, that would be fine.

If you're using Photoshop to compose the pic, change the beams layer to Screen. If you're not using Photoshop, then start using it. ;)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

It's ok, but the beams need improvement, and indeed more nebula fog. :)

Unless you have some good experience using the modeling programs to create beam effects then like sanwich said, use photoshop where possible to create beam effects on still images.

You'll find its a lot easier.

The turrets appear incapable of turning without ripping a good chunk out of the hull, or the turrets, or both.:D

THe model isn't mine, sadly.  Thorn pointed me in the direction of the said model... the battleship New York.  The design is actually inspired and I believe partly based upon the Yamoto from the anime series.

It was the only pic I had lying around at the time to demonstrait the beam/photoshop thing.  Plus I think it looks cool.

Regarding the ship actually I contacted the guys that made it to see it they would allow me access to the model and textures to mod into freespace 2.  So fingers crossed and with a little luck you might be seeing this baby floating around with your ingame battle group soon. ;)
