Well, to get results like this:

I'll tell you how Kazan taught me...

Make a plane. About 90 long in x, and about .5 in y, clone it, and make it at 45 degrees on the x axis, do it again for -45 and again for 90,  group it into a single object (like with trueview) then texture it with any beam texture. Use the filter on the texture so that all the black is filterred out (it's the blue sphere above the texture's pic). Tile it however many times you wish, and for a reflectance, I've found Matte, with full luminence, and 1/2 diffusion works nicely. :)

For the beam glow, use any flare image you have (FS2 suns work quite nicely) put it on a plane, make the plane perpendicular to the beam, at the end, and Viola! Beautiful see-through beams. :)

Next leson may be laser bolts. :)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

ooh please tell us how to do your wonderfull laser bolts:nod:

Cause the beam looks crisper/cleaner and the left starting beam is too thin... other than that , they are almost equal to me. :)
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

FS uses the 3 elipse procedure for making laser bolts, right?
I did the same.

I made a section out of planes like I did with the beams, only shorter, made another, and another.

I stretched them out into a circle, oval and stretched oval and lined them up to make the pulse.

It'd be better if I put the model up for DL and let everyone see, but not everyone uses TS5 and I don't know if it'd work with anything else.

Right is better.  It is crisper and cleaner, giving it a more deadly, I'm-going-to-lance-a-hole-right-through-your-ship feeling.  The left one is too soft and poofy, threatening to viciously attack you with a feather-duster.
