Man Alive North America Tour starts now!
Man Alive, a local punk-rock band here (and incedentally good friends of mine) flew out last night to begin their North America tour. They signed for their new album with Sterile Records, based in Vancouver, and are going to have shows in 40 of the 50 states in the US, as well as a couple of possible appearences in Canada. They'll be touring around for 2.5 months, till mid-December, so chances are good that you'll be able to catch them in your area.

Tour dates, music samples, band info and pictures are all available on their web site (which I designed and created myself - one of the many reasons I've been so busy the last few months). Their new album, Work in Progress, will be sold at their shows. I've heard the final mix, and all I'll say is that it's far better than the musical samples they have for download either on the site or on MP3.com.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

So they've got a Vancouver record deal, but no shows in Vancouver?  :wtf:

Ask 'em if they can get me free tickets if they come here. ;)
WE ARE HARD LIGHT PRODUCTIONS. YOU WILL LOWER YOUR FIREWALLS AND SURRENDER YOUR KEYBOARDS. WE WILL ADD YOUR INTELLECTUAL AND VERNACULAR DISTINCTIVENESS TO OUR OWN. YOUR FORUMS WILL ADAPT TO SERVICE US. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

Well, because of that very fact, they will eventually show in Vancouver, but they don't know exactly when. They're looking at Europe and Japan tours after this US one, but I don't know anything more than that... honest! ;)

As a matter of fact, lookie here. Seems an ex-member of the band, now living in Canada, is trying to book them a show or three there.

Anyway, I'm gonna be in Wash. DC for Thanksgiving week (that Mon. to Fri.), so I may be able to catch them there - I sure hope so! Unfortunately, their East coast dates are all still being settled, so I have no way to know yet. I'll bump this once I update the site with the full list of dates. :D

BTW, how do you like the site? :thepimp:

EDIT: I forgot, their MP# site is here - the first two songs there are off their new album, but they aren't the final mixes.
