I've been thinking about the strafing issue here and I think I thought up a way for it to work. I don't know if this has been suggested before.

Basicly what happens is when you press a button the $Damp goes to 100 so you continue to go in one direction. Makes sense right? But the engines are still running so you start heading towards the capital ship when you turn to straf it. So we tell the game engine to shut off the ships engines and put the damping factor to 100.

Am I making sense?

IMHO, that isn't the right way to do it. perhaps it would be more logical to make a set of controls wich move the gunpoints around, so that the lead indicator would be a couple of degrees lower. if possible, make this only possible with certain fighters, so that you can explain it in a story as a new technology.
