OK, I got an e-mail telling me to find jdbgmgr.exe and delete it from my system. I'm assuming this is a fake, but I'd thought I'd double check, and none of my techy friends are awake right now

Fake. look it up under Hoaxes on the Symantec website. JDBmgr.exe is a standard file distributed with Windows. Deleting it won't cripple anything, but why do anything that a hoax mail tells you?

Rule of thumb: If you get an e-mail from ANYONE telling you to delete a file...don't.  Delete it immediately.

yea, that's a fake.  had a couple of people drag me to their houses to remove it.
