oh yes, it's based on a historical book, written in the 1930-ies, named, surprisingly, Names in Granite. The book, as the film is about the Estonian Freedom War (1918-1920). When the Germans left our country, there was a small amount of time before the russians came to conduct a mobilisation of forces. It failed miserably. So, Estonia had to rely solely on volunteers. From a population of approx. 900 000 back then, 90 000 volunteered. A large number of them were students from 10-12 grade. And the film tells a story of a class, who volunteers to fight in the war, and whatever happens to them. Basically, what happens is love, treachery, a lot of explosion, excellent actors, and Estonias best director.
