Right. I`ll post quickly and then edit in case miggy's still around.

EDIT : Okay I`ve had a few thoughts about this and I think I see your problem.

When you say uni directional beam do you mean a beam on a turret that doesn`t rotate or do you mean a mjolnir type beam that only fires straight forwards?

If you mean the latter I think I know your problem. The Field of View is probably too large. If your ship has a 160 degree field of view for it's main turret it will fire whenever a ship enters that field. However if you are using a beam that only goes straight ahead then it will end up firing into space most of the time.

The mjolnir has a field of view of about 60 degrees if I remember correctly so you might want to try that (or maybe less). You're other choice would be to change the beam type so that the beam can be fired downwards etc but that probably wouldn`t look as good :D

Nice work on the model BTW.

Thanks for noticing the FAQ DG :)

Karajorma's Freespace FAQ. It's almost like asking me yourself.

My Archangel has a bigger beam :p

Little tip from someone who has been there:  5 km polygons are not good.  You will get clipping problems like you couldn't imagine.  I assume you will spruce it up some, but for the love of god don't let the sides of the gun be so simple.

Other comments: I like to overall design, reminds me a bit of a Raider Ion Array Frigate (HW) but not too much.  Oh, and bgreens on the engine pods will not target an enemy vessel that is about to collide with your ship's nose.  Their range is too short, try LRBGreen instead.
who needs a signature? ;)
It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

My mods are available through links given on HLP forums, under the threads for the respective ships.  All are public.  The carrier, the corvette, and the unfinished station are only on my HD, though, but if you want them, I'll be glad to e-mail them to you.  They are all public domain, and so is the Raynor though I can hardly claim it as my own.  I just finished her up, so I'm the one who put her up for download.

Another good point, although id never intended them to be used quite like that it would be usefull, however given the power increase i might make a beam cannon that sits in the middle ground so to speak :D

Just finished editing the AA Subach to replace my flak and laser turrets, the files can be found Here along with a test mission, the test bed is a demios with nothing but Subach HL-7AA cannons so it's rather a bit ott, but then i dont indend to depoly the gun in such a manner :D

Here's the Arch Angel dishing out Borg Delight...

A Warlock Class carrier armed with SDF-1 Macross Cannon not to be shown up, escorted by 2 Battle Stars and a Minbari Sharlin Cruiser...

Lastly this did NOT crash my comp (look at the ship number description for that veritech friendly in the lower left box!!!) The Biggest Dog Fight ever! 6 Star Destroyers, some Shivan ships, Some Zentreadi ships, 6 Borg Cubes, and each occompanied by fighter escorts against THE GOOD GUYS! 1 Each of cap ship and Cruiser plus a wing of each good guy ship (Veritechs, vipers, star furys, X-Wings,ect...) 200 fighters in intense combat.

Umm Does this qualify as "Battle of Endor Syndrome?"
That photo is called "Don't go to Zahadum, the parking's a B*TCH!"

Miggy!!!! Can I extend a psuedopod around that ship and drag it into my future mod FS2 Beyond Redemption? I love uber ships and the Terrans will definately need something like this (Remember the shielded lucifer?)

BTW I tried the subspace missiles against the Shielded Lucier!!!

I found that if I target a gun the protrudes beyond the shield I can get a laser lock and rain death upon it. Problem is they have no effct! The most powerful bombs in the GTVA arsenal are USELESS against the Lucifer in normal space. I will try to recreate the subspace mission later and try it then after work... L8tr (rambling again!

Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !
