Evolution of a Connie (WIP model)

The last image is the most recent render.  So far its at 6255 polygons.  Please note that it only looks darker because there are actual light sources in the scene. :)

Modelled in 3D Studio MAX R2.5

Gargoyles, Season 1.  Buy it, or DIE! :)

I think the bottom surface of the frying pan is a little bit too steeply conical.
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

Well, thats how the model actually looks IRL.  I've got one sitting next to me ontop of my case. :)

good... good... you begin to see the light :D
Together with me: "Frying pan... frying pan... frying pan..."

as for the model: you see the underneath cone, should have bevelled the verts rather than scaled them down, all the visible edges there are because of that I suppose. Note: the best way to make that ( and the easitest too ), is to lathe the whole saucer. You'd have it all done in less than a minute ( well, more if you're working from a precise blueprint, of course, just a way of talking ) and it would be a flawless mesh :)

They're big into trek meshes there.

Indeed, SFM would be the place to go.

Take a look at this one for inspiration.

Unless he's under a different user name there, I haven't seen him post once yet.

Sorry for taking so long to keep ya'll up-to-date.

As you can see, I've got a little problem with the boolean.  It killed the smoothness of the neck, and the smooth modifier doesn't fix it. (not using meshsmooth because it adds excess verts and it'll make it look like utter **** afterwards)

simple rule: if you don't need to, don't use boolean. It's perfectly fine to have intersecting polys in a high poly mesh
