Cool New model variant!
Has anyone seen the long range version of the Y-Wing?  it has an extended command cab (cockpit) and a turret(so does original)  I wish someone would take the command cab of the original Apollo and stretch 5 meters or so its like a long range light transport or something.  Maybe add a turret and decrease handling or something.  The story could be it was created in the late 2330's during all the turbulence of the GTA factions.  It was an inexpensive way to courier small dignitaries and others from one system to another but maintain a level of security.  Does anyone like dis idea??

If anyone could, just convert the apollo to .cob and convert it to Truespace, stretch the cockpit 5 meters or so, maybe tinker with the texturing! bam! Light long range transport class!!

Someone should also do the Apollo-B, the bomber variant seen in the FS1 opening cutscene. (8 guns, more missles, weak subsystems, not as maneuverable or fast)

If you have (or know somebody that has) that god-awful game 'Rebellion' ther should be a few pics of them in there (not very good ones unfortunately, just thumbs really) but that's the best I can think of.

Can I disrupt this topic with mockery of those who want to convert other sci-fi into FreeSpace, or is that job taken?

I believe the current apollos cockpit to be around 7-8 meters in length, 3-4 in width, and roughly 3 in height.  I think a command cabin, with room to transport someone or to have a small crew (2-3) should be almost twice as long and slightly wider, and a little taller.  So roughly 14 meters in total length, say 5 meters in width, and 4 in height!!

What's wrong with using the Freespace (and Freespace 2) engine to build flight sims for settings besides Freespace?

Besides, if you'd actually read the thread you'd know it was about an Apollo variant.
