Even aside from the SCP, FS2 is very modifiable anyway. One can create new ships, new sounds, new art, and of course custom made missions to fly. The various projects being hosted here all mess around doing this. The four avatars (pictures) beneath my name stand as the logos for the four projects I am involved with. Click on them to got to the webpages for each.
Each of those four projects is a campaign. A campaign includes (when completed) at the bare minimum a bunch of custom missions connected together to tell a story, but may also have new ships, weapons, sounds, art, and/or other enhancements. These enhancements are colloquially referred to as
mods. Do note that the term mod does not refer to a campaign as a whole within the FS community, but rather to the individual new creations (except missions, which do not involve modifying anything, just making things move around and do stuff).
The few forum members that you see with large avatars are the administrators. They run the place. They are a good bunch (on the whole

). Keep them happy, and they'll keep you happy. Misbehave too much, and they will shut you down.
