I played Privateer 2, man it was sweet.

It'de be cool if all the mod teams got together to make a cohesive mod of WC or Privateer

Agreed

there is only ONE wing commander mod for vegastrike, Wing Commander Universe, it is a Privateer remake that is much bigger than the original was
those meshes will probably never be in the final version because they are THE original meshes used to render the sprites in those old games. and we can't get enough of them so you'd have 5 ships with 40,000 polys and the rest with less.. which would suck.

well you could always improvise, add details and such to the meshes for which you dont hve the originals. Just imagine you're doing a hi-poly model and slap on some details etc.

Does the game run at a decent framerate with the current 40k poly ships? Its hard for me to picture it, but it would be so cool if it were true.

BTW  is there an expected release date, or atleast a release date for a demo. I bet I'm not the only one who would be very exited to try it out.

anyways, good work, gives me hope for the whole space sim/ fan mods sector.

personally i think that more polys does not always mean better models... we are talking about a game and not a render....and these models are for renders as they said
a good game model is a good balance between details and performance... you don't need details that you can't even notice in game, or that you can realize more efficently with textures...
i have to agree instead about the game engine..nice reflections...nice effects...and nice engine if it can handle those models w/o many problems

You're talking about meshes that never existed, nugget.
