Turrets at a side angle
OK, so we all know the rule which states that turrets must have their barrels and normals sticking either straight up or straight down. But what about the Aeolus cruiser? It's only got multi-part turrets on the top and bottom, granted, but their barrels point forward as well as up or down, and so do the normals. How does it get away with this?

It doesn't; it's turrets have issues of their own, and serve as a case-in-point for why non-vertical turrets should not be used.  The conversion tools that :V: used were a little bit better than ours, too, so they may have been able to deal with that in a more ordinary fashion.

It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

Quite. Just seen Cerberus wander past, carrying the remains of a green and purple sheep.

One should also note that the Aeolus uses flak on those turrets, change out flak for regular lasers and you'll note that the turrets never point straight at their targets, but angle about 45 degrees below it.  You just don't notice this with flak, it has nothing to do with conversion tools.

The plot thickens.

So now you must consider the type of weapon to be fitted when you make the turret!
