Assault on the Reliant (Render)

Image Size=1280x960

I haven't done a render in a long while, so I decided to just brush up on it... and here's the result. I hope you guys like it.
The main thing on this render is I'm testing the 3d effects(lasers and shields) I made... so tell me what ya think.

Assault on the Reliant (Render)
Some parts are extremely cool. I love the angle on the Orion, the lighting, the beam, the laser, the warp. Fantastic!

Other elements are not so good. The Herc has D3 style shields... :ick Leave them off. Maybe have some spewing flame. Nitpick, the Manticore has Vasudan thrusters. And what's going on in the lower right?

Its a moloch split in half, you can see the front part with flame spewing out, indicating a beam slicing it in half... the back part goes off the screen a little to the right and below it, its hard to see, but easy to tell if I didn't do the 'widescreen' effect :p

Thanks for the advice, I don't like the way the shield looks all that much, but the way it works is great, you'd have to see how I made it to understand... I'll work on improving it though. And those are shivan thrusters, its just I put some particles at the point where it comes off the ship to make it look a bit more real...

lower the opacity of the layer for the shield - that should help.
Also, little bits of debris for the moloch, and some smoke too.

On the shield thing...do a second layer of it and use some kind of texture or warping effect with a swirl.  That, done sublety enough, should make it look better.

Shivan lasers are red, not yellow :D

Ok, so I checked it in photoshop, using the color dropper tool... its more a darker orange than yellow... its intermittant, it goes from white, to a really bright yellow(hardly noticable from the white) to orange(this section is so small its kinda hard to see in this pic). I'll just bump up the thickness of the red section and put down the luminosity a little on hte beam and it'll look red.
