Does anyone know what lines 1 and 4 in pixels.tbl are for? Or is anyone willing to find out?

I've got a question:  what does pixels.tbl define stuff for anyways?
"I condemn false prophets, I condemn the effort to take away the power of rational decision, to drain people of their free will -- and a hell of a lot of money in the bargain. Religions vary in their degree of idiocy, but I reject them all. For most people, religion is nothing more than a substitute for a malfunctioning brain."  - Gene Roddenberry

Lines 2, 3, and 5 are used for casting engine glow colors.  1 and 4 on the other hand (by default white and pure green, respectively) I have no idea.  I'm trying to change text color in game, and I'm wondering if these two are related and if not, what they're really for.

I believe the white in line 1 was to allow glide cards to make the windows/lights that were pure white on ships seem to glow a bit brighter.

The Green, I'd say was for transparency.

well, changing line 4 from green to red didn't seem to affect planets. is glide used by default? (stupid question, i know)  Also, could someone tell me if the color of briefing text and other text in game is hardcoded?
