Ok, some idea about finding modellers
I noticed the *****ing contest when concerning a new 3d modeller.

This has occured to me when reading the following

http://nwvault.ign.com/features/interviews/Steel_Wind061903.shtml

In it the lead persona of the project talks about some of the difficulties he faced FINDING 3D DESIGNERS and how he solved them...

Like anything else - to find something in abundance – you need to go to the source. In this case – it was 3d schools.

3d modeling and animation schools are often aimed at a variety of media – not just games of course. The awful catch22 for freshly minted would-be game artists is that most don't have two things a prospective employer looks for: a large low polygon art portfolio and a finished title under their belt.

While mod groups are still regarded as amateurish, Counterstrike changed a lot of opinions in the industry. So I thought – this is our opportunity. DLA can provide these new modelers with good subject matter, a group of others to provide mutual support and camaraderie and offer a realistic prospect that tens of thousands – and maybe hundreds of thousands – will use their models to play NWN. The DL1 mod itself is so ambitious that it counts as a finished title, fan based or not.

So we printed up about 50 full color glossy posters and sent them out to every school in North America that holds itself out as having a computer game development program. And it worked."

Here follows the poster he sent...

After that, well, the project is one of the most talked about, anticipated and, well, revered throughout NWN.

Could something like it be done here, aka, could people be convinced that something like FS will do wonders for their careers and help out, where they want/can?

In Matrix I's oracle's voice..." I can only show you the door, you are the one who has to go through it."

SO, will they come? If it interests them and they love space and they work on 3d packages, why the hell not? I mean, learning to work on a 3d game with Fs2's 3d_design "specialties" will make all other 3d games EASY.

Besides, it IS something they can show on a portofolio.

And when it comes down to it, even if Fs2 isn't as popular as NWN, well, talent will show through, whatever the design.

Ideas? (No, I don't have the college list :) or should I say

If you want to be ready for Wing Commander Saga: The Darkest Dawn, then download and play the prologue first.

Here,

http://www.wcsaga.com/downloads/files/download/releases-prologue-setup-exe.html

Then, while waiting for the Darkest dawn, Download Starshatter 4.02

http://www.starshattermods.com/infusions/pro_download_panel/download.php?did=214

You 'll understand why once you have.

I don't know about you guys, but I certainly intend to put my FS models in my portfolio. :p As for using HLP as a resource for aspiring professional game workers; sure, why not?
