Hullo there, Just another newbie hanging around. I've spent a few days just following posts and downloading + installing the various updates, and first off let me say something:

DAMN nice work!

Now then, Just a small issue I have here. I've been playing through FSPort ( I have 2.2 + all voice, anis and such like). I got to the mission where you have to attack the Shivan Destroyer Eva and I get CTDs repeatably. In HT&L mode + 32bit textures using the latest _t build I can find it runs for maybe a second. Long enough to see two shivan capships and for the first word of a voice transmission to get out. Disabling the 32bit textures and various things like that just beget the same result, running the _r build without -htl, the mission CTDs before anything gets displayed or spoken. Not sure if it's really relevant to post here but it seems a bit of a half-half problem. Not sure whether to pester the FSPort guys or you guys here on the subject. Feel free to shout at me and point at the FSPort guys ;)

On the note of the latest _t build.. Can I just check which one that is? I have the one from the blackwater site that is probably the latest, but no harm in checking.

If it's a CTD it belongs here. The FSPort probably doesn't have any new bugs that would cause that.  :)

The only problem i see, is the two shivan capships... There shoudl only be the eva (unless you are talking about the one right after the one with the Galatea being hit by the mauler)...

As for the crashing... I have no idea...

It is the one right after the Galatea is hit by the mauler...

(Edit: when you say "hit by" you do mean the one where you're protecting the Galatea and the Mauler warps in but you blow it up before much happens, right? :p)

I've also noticed another problem. Force Feedback...

I no longer seem to get any force feedback.

By the way, I think the joystick code is still being worked out at the moment, so I'm not surprised FF still isn't working. Don't have it myself (Sidewinder Precision Pro), but make sure you raise it with RandomTiger... there's a thread about joystick issues somewhere around here. :nod:

Just answer a few simple questions: Does it run under retail FS2, and does it run under 3.5.5?

Force Feedback or the FSPort mission?

Force Feedback originally wasn't working in 3.5.5 but DID work in retail and 1.2 of FS2. It also worked in other games. I changed the center spring strength (turned it down from 150 to 100) and suddenly 3.5.5 and my _t build both started using ForceFeedback, I did explain this in the thread about the new launcher (One with joystick code) and in my Bugzilla bug.

FSPort mission: Honestly..I don't know about in retail. It'd take me a while to run through the missions again to get to the right one to test it in FS:Retail. It didn't work in 3.5.5 though, crashed out even sooner than the _t build. See I get about 1sec of play using the _t build. In 3.5.5 release it never displays anything, just immediately drops out. I do know the same mission is playable with the exact same FSSCP setup (Same _t build, same VPs, etc.) on a friends Machine.

My hardware:

Athlon XP2200+
512 PC2100 DDR (Nobrand)
GeForceFX5600 (256meg, non-ultra)
Hitachi 60Gig drive (I don't remember what model)

I have the output to MSInfo32/DxDiag if anyone wants 'em? I'll post 'em on my website. Might not be up if you've read this with a few minutes of me posting but I'll stick 'em there in a moment.
