How about a "No AWACS Messages" flags for ships with AWACS capabilities that prevents them from issuing AWACS messages as they get damaged. I had the idea of a scout/recon variant of the Apollo used in the late T-V War that has advanced long-range sensors and better speed and maneuverability at the expense of weaponry and armor (it has only 180 armor hitpoints, two gunmounts, and smaller missile banks). It would seem out of place to see a guy on a bridge with a dress uniform on shouting "AWACS has sustained moderate damage! Please assist!" when the fighter is damaged.
