'Allo Ancient, glad to have you over from Macrossworld ;). Star Dragon is currently doing the REF mod, if I remember correctly

 
Yeah I see that in the postings but I am not finding his site anywhere. Which makes me wonder if he has a site yet. If he needs one I could scrap my site and get the ball rolling for this mod. ;)

What ships do you guys need, anyway?
The last ones I can remember from the old RT mod (several people once were, including myself, you can find them around), we had the VF-1A, the SDF-1 in Attack mode thingy, Earth, both regular and destroyed...and that's all, I believe.
Do you need any of those? If you do, I'll try to dig them up on the internal forum.

AA I have no site yet ( I had a freeweb one but it sucked) and I am constantly herte like 3 times a day unless I am at work so this is my second home :nod:

  You mentioned a milkshake problem with textures and maybe you can notice in teh pic I rendered of teh textrures of teh ref models you sent me eqarlier..

BTW I love these models they are awesome! Unfortunately they are NOT converting due to either bein gone object too big and need to be subobjected or maybe intersecting pollies??? I dunno I can't get any clear anwsers from PCS...(Pof Constructor Suite) as it's error messages are few and generally it just crashes to windows on most failures with no clue as why it does.. hehe
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

Where's your normal VF-1s? I see you have the super and strike versions, but I don't see a listing of the VF-1A-S

Well I didn't want to have to go back and list every Vf I had at the time. To clear up what I got this might help. I got permission to use Dan Bickell's VF's (& Female Power Armor which is another story) So currently I have his VF-1A but I managed to alter the textures to get the four basic color schemes we need for the game. Cannon Folder Brown, Red (Rick's), Blue (Max's) and Yellow (Skull One, Roy's). Now I went back at one point and just had a clean version of a VF. What I mean by Clean is it has no weapons, no gun-pod nothing. I also have a basic load out with only a gun-pod. Another with that rather large 5 Pack missile polys. Another with the Large 5 Pack missiles and the smaller 3 missiles on another pylon. I also have the Basic Super VF no extra missiles on the wing pylons. Super + with Missiles on the Pylons and the Strike Load out with missiles on the wing plyons.

Well first question first I have unlimited web-space and I can do up a mod site for us where my current one is located at?

I can fix the conversion process with the textures getting jumbled up. As for the models possibily crashing the game that could take some time. What format do the models need to be in, in order to conver them into the game?
If its the sheer size of the model thats crashing the conversion process I can fix that fairly quickly. If its the intersecting polys in the model that is going to be a rough one to fix. Back when I made the bulk of those ships I was and still am learning the in's and out's of the program. The bulk of the Garfish model is a series of Box's with a few Sphere here and there. There has to be a ton of intersecting polys in all of those ships with exception to maybe the Alpha and Beta fighter I have been working on.

Oh, Arch, if you need tabling help, I'd be glad to help. I'm waiting for pyro_maniac to get back to me with my mod (he has all my stuff as of right now, I lost my copies), so I'm free. ;)

 
Ok, so once I figure out what the hell tabling is :D  I am sure I will need help with it.  Man so much to learn so little time

Tabling is the stuff that tells Freespace 2 how to make the actual ship act in-game. Tech database, speed, info, names, symbols, species, everything ;)

 
Okay so its the basic flight profile of the ship and how it handles and who is handling it. Gotch'a that sounds some what easy its just a matter of learning the syntax.

I was planning on this mod being so easy even a noob like me can just plug in and go, no worries about command lines or whay not, or buggy upgrades.. heeh at least not at first! Eventally it would be neat to have a HT&L (?) version after teh basic mod is done for people to really enjoy the models, but I'd behappy just to get REF modset done for people to play with!

Unknown Target, Glad to see you're still alive!  ;)   When ever AA has a model finished and ready for game I will give it a once over and add all the pof stuff and then send a copy off to you for tabling (sound ok?).  BTW if you are serious and see this all the way through (like AA) I'll be sending you a brand new set of FS2 disks (If you so desire) once the basic mod is finished (meaning missions not needed, those can come later and I'm sure RT fans will love making their own senarios up!)..

However there is a situation I think should be rectified... we now have 3 Robotech mod threads over two forums... How about this... I make a NEW thread called"Offical REF Mod Thread"... all Robotech or macross postings go there (including screens, questions, comments, or updates and the moderatores close all of the other threads cause I really feel this is spamming HLP...

  AA,  as for the website, if you can supply one great! There at least we can make stuff available for Downloads when units are ready.I've been on and off constantly but if we can get together online soon I'll snd you an example of a .cob and the finished conversion so you can compare it. Oh I can reconvert it to .lwo or .3ds if you need. That way you can see what has been done, or not done on a model that converted flawlessly and looks cool in game, though it is for Star Trek and not RT, see I am doing a ST project simultaneously and have like 80% more progress there so I keep flopping over as my non-modling skills can be used as opportunities arrise. :p
New ST screen going in teh ST thread.... (where it belongs)
