Yep... I'm interested in learning to use my version of 3dsMax (Version 5, so compatability shouldn't be an issue), but as of right now, all I've figured out to do it make a cube, and move the points around...  Can anyone point me in the direction of a 3dmax mesh creation tutorial?

I don't need to know how to texture in it, I have TS for that... ;7

But Everyone keeps saying how much easier and more powerful MAX is... so I'm willing to try it out. :)

Oh yeah, right click on an object and you will see a list of things that you can do, or click on an object then on the right hand side of the window there is a modifier tree. Click on the modifier you want.
Extrusion is your friend.

There's a good tutorial for modelling a fighter in the built-in max tuts (at least for v4)

My basic step is- right clik on the object and convert to editable mesh, then select a face and use the 'extrude' button on the RHS (not in the modifier stack, i only use that when UV-ing).

And, um, that's all i use in max really.  Select face and extrude.  Well, weld and move points as well.  Obviously.

Push F1, with some luck ( :p ) you have the help file, and there should be everything you need in there.

You'll probably find something here.

The tutorial CD is a good idea. Also you might want to look at gmax tutorials. Good for tips 'n stuff.

Yes, yes, I already did the low poly spaceship/fighter tutorial. But I was looking to see if any of you knew of /more/...

And I was actually quite amazed by how simple making that fighter was...

Ryx: Thanks for the links, I'm checking them now.
