I'm deciding on whether to get an LCD or CRT, the thing is I want to use it for business and gaming. After reading lots of reviews on both CRTs and LCDs here are my choices below, but I am open to any suggestions for other monitors (price range AU$1000).

CRT 19" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930SB
Basic Specs (Price: AU$550)
+ Viewable Area: 18"
+ Dot Pitch: 0.24mm
+ Max Resolution: 1920x1440 @73Hz

OR

LCD 19" Samsung SyncMaster 192N TFT
Basic Specs (Price: AU$1000)
+ Viewable Area: 19"
+ Dot Pitch: 0.294mm
+ Max Resolution: 1280x1024 @56-75Hz

Thanks for  any suggestions in advance ;)

If you've got the money I'd go for the LCD, since I always find it gentler on the eyes after long periods of use.

If you're going for gaming, go with the CRT. LCD Monitors dont have a fast enough refresh rate for newer games. Games will look rather blurry. If you're just into the graphics (image/video editing), go for the LCD.

What about for Fs2 though, Many of the LCDs I've seen can't display black - the true color very well

Depends on the monitor. Some look fine from any angle. Others, like my laptop display, look wierd from an angle. Personally I'd go with the CRT. Sure theyre huge, but theyre cheaper. They look just as good for most things.

Modern LCDs don't have the refresh problem to a noticeabl extent iirc. I wouldn't go for an LCD simply because it is too costly for the gain. So unless eye strain or space are very important I'd say get a CRT.

Definately a CRT, unless you have difficulties with looking at one for extended periods of time...

LCD>CRT IF you have a problem with eye strain
CRT>LCD IF you need super high refresh rates and have some desk space left over.

I will be looking at the monitor for lengthy periods of time, lets say 12+ hours a day for 4 days a week (only work though), but I still would like to have the capability of playing games and doing work

Any monitors people have bought or seen and would recommend?

I have an NEC CRT monitor. *reads text in corner* MultiSync 77F.
It's pretty good, as I look at it for hours at a time and I haven't had problems.
