Level of detail and shields
I was wondering if someone that knows how to make modles with levels of detail and shields could send me a couple of TS 3.2 scens with two modles in it??  one with lod and the other with a shield mesh??

I have been trying to get both working with the aid of tuts but i'm not having a lot of luck.  I think i need to see them in TS to learn how to do this.

For shields, just have a mesh around the object, as a subobject of the main LOD and name it shield.

For LOD's, you have to... err... lemme find the chart I made in another forum...

thank you.  that got me over the line.

I developed a TS 3.2 cob file that shows that tree above for lod, shields and turrets.  but i don't know how to setup a download link.  

I intend to make this file avaliable so you don't have to answer a thread like this whenever a newbee comes along.

Send it to [email protected] and I'll add it to the FAQ. I did have the download for the the GTC Great Big Cube on there too but this one has a shield mesh on it and the cube doesn't. :D

Bobboau made the learn to use PCS one. It's all about using PCS to convert models to the format FS2 uses. It can't explain that without covering the hierarchy and how to set it up.

IP Andrews did the Freespace 2 Ship Creation Guide which also has a guide to the hierarchy and lots of stuff explaining common problems with models and how to correct them.

Instead of a custom mesh, I simply import shield data from an appropriately shaped model via Model View (shield editing). Works fine for me!
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !
