OK, just to establish - this isn't the new species from TI. Flipside does all of their stuff (and does an excellent job of it too). This is just something I did when I was trying to come up with a terran interceptor, but ... didn't. Instead I came up with this shape, and realized it seemed to fit the vague bill I'd come up with for another new species I'd wanted to do a fanfic about awhile back - the El Nathi.
The El Nathi are significantly behind the GTVA technologically, still relying primarily on projectile weapons, missiles and lasers (actual, modern day lasers that is, as opposed to FS lasers). They're only just beginning to experiment with plasma based weaponry.
Anyway, this ship (attatched) is the ENF Mantus (and no, that's not spelled wrong (http://www.pantheon.org/articles/m/mantus.html)) - a space superiority/scout fighter -
The first El Nathi ship ever encountered by the GTVA, the Mantus is, like all their vessels, significantly below those of the GTVA technologically. Seeming to combine the roles of scout and space superiority fighter, by El Nathi standards, the Mantus is both fast and manoeuvrable, though with a hull that leaves something to be desired. Its six main cannons allow the Mantus to fire quickly, but chew rapidly through its ammunition stores. By GTVA standards however, the Mantus is far too weak to be considered anything more than a class D threat, except to unarmed or civillian vessels.
I'm mainly interested in two things - whether the ship looks alien enough, and whether it looks primitive. I know the model is low poly - partially I was aiming for that, and partially I simply didn;t want to change the shape too much more - either wa, that's kinda just how it is

.
BTW, the pof works fairly well ingame if you want to have a play, but the game crashes when you call a support ship - I may look into fixing the dockpoint...eventually.
