I vote for hull, because your hull IS your life.  Once your hull reaches zero, well... your dead.  Besides, weak shields will recharge faster, right?

And after playing Inferno and fighting against the AB Satyr which has 4 turrets and what seems to be as much armor as a Lilith, but no shields, I've come to the conclusion that strong hulls kick ass.  Unless you have a weapon like Inferno's  A.C.R.

You have to edit your ships.tbl and change the turrets where you want to use the torpedoes to $SBank instead of $PBank, and then create into your weapons.tbl a suitable weapon (Inferno's Cruiser Torpedo is just fine, otherwise you could edit the Fenris/Leviatan one)...

the tool i could use to view my ship.tbl file would be which tool? I have tons of em and dont know which one would be which.

Just extract your tbl files and open them with the most versatile editor in the world: Notepad

Sure, I could do that. I have put my current one on hold due to the fact that I need to download files for it to complete it, and so until then I cant get the file because no one has it, so I could put some extra time into a campaign that you are talking about. What do you have in mind?

Well, i'm trying to resurrect my old campaign, Rise of GCA...
I was forced to scrap it because of HD failure and lack of staff, plus one year ago some SCP stuff was not implemented yet...

Messanger sounds good to me. I use AIM, but I have all that other good stuff too. BTW: I opened up the ships.tbl file and found my ship that I want to edit (GTC Aeolus with missile banks from turret 7 - 11) and I save it and when I go back to it, the turret has just been greyed out. I cant select it anymore, and when I try and open up regular FRED2 from my main freespace 2 folder, it says there is an error parsin ships.tbl. What should I do?

Are you sure you edited it right?
I can't tell you much without taking a look at your tables...
