Well here I am, sitting and thinking how far FS2 has come, and yet how few people know about it. From what I know, anyone who has played FS2 has loved it, its almost universal. Its still counted as probably the single best space sim ever, and as the recent Gamespy battle royale things has shown, is still remembered.
However, as far as people know, there is nothing in ways of mods, campaigns or graphical upgrades. This is, as you know, nonsense.
So, with that in mind, how about we put together a press release, to let the world know whats going on here. Nothing fancy, just a few paragraphs, and lots of screenshots to do the talking. Then, we ship them off the the major news sites (Voodoo Extreme, Bluesnews, AVault, Homelanfed, Actiontrip, Worthplaying) and anywhere else where they might draw a big crowd. Penny Arcade comes to mind, as their reader base is very large indeed. Ofcourse, HLP masters at Gamespy also get informed, as do the other gaming networks (Gamespot, IGN etc). Basically, anywhere where the stuff will be put in a visible place.
As far as I can recall, nothing of this sort has been done before, though it may have been suggested. The basic idea here is to send out a "looks at us" signal, with all the latest and greatest screenshots to show off the wares.
It might be a good idea for this to coincide with the planned All-in-one, easy to use Launcher, and the release of 3.6 (or whatever the next version is).
