as of the most recent build do the black lines still show up when enableing antialiasing?
if not I'll upload a fresh CVS build to see if it has indeed been fixed, as it seems to have been

Its not fixed. HTL bugs should be a priority though.

 * Please note that from now on OGL will only run with a registry set by Launcher v4. See forum for details.
 * OK, these changes effect a lot of file, I suggest everyone updates ASAP:
 * Removal of many files from project.
 * Removal of meanless Gr_bitmap_poly variable.
 * Removal of glide, directdraw, software modules all links to them, and all code specific to those paths.
 * Removal of redundant Fred paths that arent needed for Fred OGL.
 * Have seriously tidied the graphics initialisation code and added generic non standard mode functionality.
 * Fixed many D3D non standard mode bugs and brought OGL up to the same level.
 * Removed texture section support for D3D8, voodoo 2 and 3 cards will no longer run under fs2_open in D3D, same goes for any card with a maximum texture size less than 1024.

after that the AA lines went away, for me, though it could just be changes to the registry, the registry and the new launcher says it's on (BTW the new launcher seems to be 100% working perfictly now)

Hate to bring up an old thread, but I'd like to note that enabling AA of any sort causes blue  lines to show up in the 2D interface.

In game, the 3D graphics look fine (beautiful even) but the cockpit graphics seem to be misplaced...

Yes, is that what's causing the problem?

it seems the comineation of these two flags causes this, see if turning off -pcx32 fixes it

Ok it seems to work much better now.

I'd like to note that enabling AA in the launcher and enabling AA in the control panel have different results (control panel enabling causes the ugly artifacts while enabling it in the launcher doesn't)

Too bad -pcx32 has to be turned off.

As a sidenote, turning it off reduces the amount of memory being used.  Not exactly surpriseing.  However, the new object stutter still occurs.

I've also noticed the while the 2D cockpit interface isn't badly artifacted in AA modes, it's still a bit "mushied".  However, it's still very visible and the prettiness of the AA'd models outweighs this.

If only I had a 9800Pro so that I can play with AA on all the time =(

Hey, I tested out the anti-fighter beams already.  I'll test ballistics tomorrow.

And also, I hate everyone with a 9800Pro since I don't have one  :mad2: :hopping:

Heh, well, I'm happy with my ti4200 for now.  I'm going to wait and see whether the nv40 or the r420 is faster and then get one of those (i.e. I'm skipping a generation).

  I only choose whichever happens to be better at the moment.  Camping isn't my style. :p

Oh and you read what I've posted about the nebula being too bright right?  This occurs regardless of the ambient lighting level.  It's enough that I can hardly see the HUD even on high contrast mode.

This image doesn't show the brightness problem but it does show something funny I noticed about the nebula: there seems to be too many layers.

I play with 2xQ AA on all the time and notice no black lines or artifacts (AA enabled in Nvidia control panel, disabled in launcher)

The bright fog is probably caused by the diffuse fix.
