Just finished the last episode on the Band of Brothers DVD.
It's the absolutely the best Series\Movie I have ever seen in my LIFE!!!...
What's everybodies opinion on this...

I rented it at the video store. What a let down. Sorry, but I was expecting it to be, you know, exciting. I went though I think 4 of the 6 episodes before I decided that the rest weren't work watching.

This isn't due to lack of attention span though. I just thought it was same old same old. I loved the Dune miniseries though, saw it in a single sitting.

Band of Brothers is superb. Got them all on my shelf. One of the best WW2 movies (well, the production value is of one so why not) in a long time. The book is even better.

The things that is amazing is the stories are real (though they collapsed some characters from the book to ease the story telling).

I actually saw on Amazon that they're selling the REAL Pvt. Webster's diary from the war. That should be a really interesting read.

Wow, serious? The closest I get to WW2 is that my grandparents (all four) died while trying to escape from the Japanese in a boat.

the closest for me was one of my grandfathers (who passed away a while back) was part of the clean-up operation for hiroshima, about a fortnight or so after the nuke dropped

the other went to korea.

My Grandfather served in Italy, IIRC, I forget the unit.  Was in the Army though.  His name was Monroe Mynard if you're interested.

I remember a story he told us(me and a couple of my cousins) about when he reported to his outfit to ship out.  He had to report a week earlier than the other units, because his unit had drawn KP for the crossing.  They had to get the ship ready, stores stocked, and prepare the meals  for the other thousands that would make the crossing with them in the same ship.  As I remember, once they disembarked he was wounded and got a Purple Heart as well as a couple of other medals, I'd have to ask my father as he knows without having to look.
