How about a break from political threads that get us nowhere? To go along with the other thread about "Top 10 dumb sci-fi moments", how about your top 10 worst sci-fi films ever?
10. "Independence Day" - A great film, a great concept, torpedoed 1 hour into the film. Thank you Will Smith.
9. "10.5" - That stupid made-for-tv earthquake film recently released. You can also lump the other made-for-tv disaster films "Volcano" and "Asteroid" into this. I strongly considered replacing this listing with "Deep Impact" for it's hollywood happy ending, but Morgan Freeman can save anything (except "The Electric Company")
8. "The Day After" - American anti-nuclear-war movie from the mid 80's, heralding the end of Steve Gutenberg's career. Horribly watered-down, yet it managed to 'scare' people. England's response, the movie "Threads", drives the point home in a much more realistic and frightening manner.
7. "Laserhawk" - I think it's about some guy making a fake UFO film that turns out to be almost exactly like a real UFO film. Beats me, because I blew my brains out an hour into the film. Apparently Mark Hamill is in it, but I think he just narrated the intro.
6. "Solar Crisis" - Another one from the 'oops' pile. Talk about spending too much money for too much crap.
5. "Life Force" - Space vampires. Enough said.
4. "Star Quest II" - Yup, it's a sequel to Star Quest. At least that's what the artwork claims. Problem is, it's a soft porn starring Robert "Freddie" Englund.
3. "Battlefield Earth" - I won't be shocked if this shows up in everyone's list. The only reason I suffered through it is I was under the impression it was a comedy. I had NO idea Travolta considered this a "serious" film.
2. "Nightfall" - A recent remake of an Issac Asimov story, I believe. Looks like it was shot in 1962 with the rejected cast of the Rocky Horror Picture Show
1. "Star Wars: 1978 Christmas Special" - Download it, then shoot yourself. If you can make it through the first 20 minutes, you have issues
