In defence of natives: You find it far more difficult to spell a word you had known how to pronounce and used them before. English spelling is in my opinion easy because when I learn a new English word, I learn both the spelling and pronunciation at the same time. Natives, in contrast know how to pronounce this and that word, but they are left on their own when they have to spell it. Some cases are quite misleading, let's take 'Door' or 'Look' as examples. I am curious who can figure out the spelling of the word 'mayor' on their own.
Returning to the actual topic, the project: Spelling mistakes are not disturbing when they are in an in-mission message until simulated speech pronounces it as it is supposed to. 'Your being chased' and 'You are being chased' are pronounced the same way, which hides the spelling mistake when you are not reading the message, only listening to simulated speech.
