I'll be putting together a more comprehensive and hopefully shorter guide within the next week or so. All my changes should be pretty well documented in those threads though.

If you want to do a custom cockpit or something like that, I'm not sure if that'll work; I think custom HUD gauges are rendered on top of the defaults.

Anyone know where I can find the names of the other HUD elements not listed in the threads above?

The only major gauges are
"$Player Shield:"
"$Target Shield:"
"$Shield Mini:"
"$Afterburner Energy:"
"$Weapons Energy:"
"$Escort List:"

There are some mini gauges that go with the shield mini and the escort list but I'm sure they're mentioned in the threads.

Does that mean that the positions of things like the comm window, weapons list and speed  gauge are unchangeable?
