I have recently attempted to try FS2 multiplayer. I have downloaded the latest version, registered an FS2Net account and basically followed instructions here. Also according to that I have to remove "speffects.vp" and "zpack.vp" and delete all files in the /data/tables folder. The "speffects.vp" and the "zpack.vp" were never there in the first place and there is nothing iin the /tables folder. Any suggestions?

Make sure you don't have aseffects (basically the same as speffects), modular tables, and you upgraded to FS2 1.2

I took out aseffects too but....how would I go about upgrading to FS2 1.2?

Get the patch. Try the FS2 website or praps Stealth's website. I think he's got it mirrored there.
