For those who dont know already, Natural Selection, the very awesome aliens vs humans mod for Half Life, is finally getting the Source engine conversion is has sorely needed... by the fans!

Remarkably, it doesnt suck. The fan's texture work with converting NS textures to Bump Mapped source is turning out very nicely. Let me show you a bit of progress:







NS:Source has always been a question for the last 6 months as the NS boards were plagued by people joining for the first time asking "Will Natural Selection be on the Half Life 2 engine?"

We got about 5 of those a week.

Anyhow, the news is great, and I feel its only necessary to spread it! Being that everyone is usually too occupied to view everyone elses news, I went ahead and took the liberty of those interested in seeing Natural Selection put on the Half Life 2 Source engine. Its a blessing.

Yeah, I heard that the NS team may or may not (I guess not) be doing a Source conversion, and that they're working on Natural Selection 2 as a full retail game. Part of me thinks its fair reward for the excellent game that they have created, and part of me thinks they're selling out by going commercial.

Glad to see that someone is doing NS: Source. I only played it for a few days (mutliplayer games aren't my cup of tea) but the gameplay looked interesting and the well polished.

The NS team is supporting their work, but not helping yet. Im not sure if they have any plans set out for this sort of thing, or if they just want to push us along with help or encouragement. Not sure at all. Whatever the case, I hope a big portion of this gets accomplished.
