I'm having some trouble trying to build a default beam for fighters. Seeing little pulses fly everywhere has gotten kind of old.
Tried converting one of the pulse weapons (the Subach-HL7) to a beam, but it wont take, kicks me back to desktop the moment I use FS2_Open.

Altered the ships (even the fighters to help even things out some) so now cap-ships can really move (mission3 fs2) the Leviathan cruiser rapidly moved behind the Psamtik (speed was 15 so upped it to 60), so now I want to have fun with beams everywhere.

EDIT:
I could probably figure out out by cannibalizing  (information....not act ual data) from the TBP3.0. But that would seem awfully complicated. Any help would  be appreciated.

Do it in FRED. You don't need table changes for that sort of thing. :) Just pick the ship, call up the ship editor and have a look at the weapons section.

How will I make sure the changes stay put for that ship?
I can modify Ultra-AAA-Fighter beam (this what I initially tested changes on) since that doesnt seem to ever be used in-game.

EDIT: Did a check in FRED but the weapons choices for primaries doesnt include BEAMS. Pointers will be appreciated since I've never made successful FRED changes...

Just make the weapon the default choice in the TBL, I think....

Guess I can do that...one default beam for all (Terram, Vasudan, Shivan) fighter and bomber craft.

EDIT: I'm still new to this modification stuff (started only a few days ago) but so far what I have completed successfully spices up single player some.
