indeed. deculturization is not the way to go. however if you look at the education system in the us it seems to be monocultural. people are not learning how to deal with such a complex cultural environment. i base my assumptions on the idea that a person cant know everything. however an abstract understanting would surfice. and while schools are getting better at this, most parents now went to school at a time before cultural diversity was a subjerct.
anyway back to the subject of the kids, anime is probibly not as bad for them as some of the us made cartoons out there. there are some show that teach morality and understanding. but there are others that show ill behavior as being 'cool'. somehow this is considered 'normal', or 'acceptable'.
for some of theese kids no morals are taught to them. they only know what is acceptable by the punishments they recieve. at the very most those kids should have been interviewed by the school counsoler, and recomend that the parents get the children some therapy. zero tolerance policys do not work when it comes to children. instead of thumping their skull when they do something bad, they should probibly attept to resolve the isues between them. with what i got away with in school (the weed breaks, the network hacking, the wrighting of 'death to piggys!' in the teachers lounge, and the commendeering of the vending machine room fort starters
).
the church could be just as bad too. my sister, who is currently in a strict christian foster home was yelled at when i let her listen to my ipod at her christian party. also while i was dating a wiccan girl they woulnt let my sister talk to her because they thought it would be a bad influence, she was a good gal but because she practiced an alternative religion she was deemed 'evil'. they woulnd even let her watch the lotr movies. its hard enough to teach kids to accept other cultures without the church having to screw things up by lableing other non-christain cultures as 'evil'
