[q]For two years Jeff Gannon cut an unobtrusive figure at White House press conferences. The shaven-headed, craggily handsome man worked for an obscure news agency called Talon News, known for its conservative sympathies. He was often the subject of jokes by colleagues on weightier news organisations.

No one is laughing now, because Gannon was far from being a harmless distraction. He was writing under a false name and working for a Republican front organisation. Suddenly, his 'softball' questions to White House officials looked less like eccentricities and more like plotting by an administration which has frequently displayed a dark mastery of the arts of press control.[/q]

Somehow, I'm not surprised. Did you Hear about the little psyops media operation had the Army had running in Eastern Europe?

Problem is, it's pretty much too late now.

People have chosen their paths, and Pride, be it National or Personal will not allow them to change it, no matter how much evidence is posted, in either direction.

I cannot imagine Liberator turning round and saying, 'You know, it is possible that I'm against Gay marraiges because it's comforting to know that they aren't quite as 'good' as us, and giving them those rights would move us to a closer par.' any more than I can imagine Kazan saying, 'You know, if it's tempered with love and understanding, religion might be able to play an important function in making sure Mankind doesn't get too cold bloodedly scientific'.

They are both, to my mind, true statements, however, we've done our bit of territorial pissing now, and the only way it will end is when the trees burn down.

At first when I saw this, I thought you meant the band, Spin Doctors. Anyway, errr... yay propaganda!
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Thinking in black and white is always easier than in shades of gray.  I guess that's humanities main problem.

I still believe all of this can be fixed if people really worked for it.

Which people? Sure, it can be fixed, but the question is whether the people who can change it have any interest in doing so, and whether those with an interest in doing so can change it?

Don't hate the media, be the media.
Easier said than done.

Of course it can, but whats the odds of getting that to happen?
