Dreams of Terra

Part 1: All Good Things

Written By: Arron “Gai Daigoji” Alderson

The console in front of him displayed multiple colours and mathematical signatures, from a distance you couldn’t even tell the computer was switched on save for a slight hum and beeping that echoed the still metropolises that was his room.

“Please enter password” The dull sounding male voice said, as if speaking from a different dimension.

“Atlantic 550” The cool voice shot back, cold vapour forming as his words echoed off into history.

“Identification please” The computer unit again spoke, however unlike the person accessing the system this voice didn’t produce vapour - the curse of being a machine, a puppet of Man.

“Bosch, Aken”

A slight beeping noise ran through the room as the computer processed the data. “Identification and password match.” The dull voice said. “Welcome Admiral Bosch, GTVA data stream now online”

About time. He thought as new images and data began to stream to his system. He took a glance at the view port, by chance or by cosmic wisdom, he wasn’t sure which, a Herc mark II shot past - maybe a omen, who knew?

“Computer” Bosch’s voice demanded, again spitting vapour and sending echoes through his quarters. “Display all information on project Hades, GTI segment branch Beta-Alpha. Encode all data to my personal account and save.”

“Standby….” The dull voice commanded as it worked to recall and save the Hades data.

It was crucial he had it. He had spent the younger years of his life fighting the Shivans, and then the Galactic Terran Intelligence and their super destroyer known as ’Hades’. That data may yet save all Terran’s from the life they were currently living.

“Download complete” The voice said, shooting through Aken’s thoughts. All most half-heartedly he switched the console off and headed for the exit.

Sitting across the table was none other then Kosol, the local Vasudan diplomat. Jane hated meeting with him, or maybe it was her she could never tell.

“Again I come before you in a matter of urgency.” The English simulated translation of the Vasudan language spoke. “In the past seventy two hours multiple Vasudan convoy craft have been engaged and destroyed in your sector”

Jane smiled, a diplomatic smile used to cover up her lies. True she new exactly what was going on in Polaris and what would happen in the next few days, she also new who the fighters that had engaged the Vasudan craft belonged to.

“I am so sorry” She sighed, trying to look as sympathetic as possible. “My sources do not know who or why you were attacked. My best guess is that it is a new group of raiders”

The Vasudan showed no emotion. “I wish to know, as the local governor of the Polaris system, why you have not requested the aid of the GTVA fleet to assist?”

Ha, fat lot of good that’ll do ya fish breath. Again little did this Vasudan know the bulk of the GTVA forces in Polaris were now loyal to a new cause.

“I have sent repeated requests to Admiral Bosch, but he had expressed his utter most sadness that he can not afford to send ship looking for convoy craft at this time.” She granted the Vasudan one of her little erotic smiles, not that the fish-head would ever think of her that way.

The simulated voice shot back: “Then I will have to approach my Emperor in contacting the GTVA council on ordering support, we can not afford to lose supplies”

Without any sort of goodbyes or polite exchanges the Vasudan stood, turned and left. When she was sure he/she had gotten a few meters out of the door she tapped a comm panel below her desk. Soon after a segment of the wall slid aside and an armed guard walked in.

“Make sure that Vasudan does not leave the complex, alive.” She said, a deadly mix of carm and hatred in her voice.

“Yes, Ma’am” The guard said who promptly removed himself from the room.

“Gamma leader, this is Atlanta”

“Go ahead, Atlanta” David said. He was tall, had short brown hair and a mean right hook - all you needed to get ahead in this galaxy. Only two years of service in the GTVA and he was already a wing leader, his farther would have been proud.

“Gamma leader, we are picking up weapon signatures near your patrol zone. You have been cleared to investigate”

Weapon signatures? “Copy Atlanta” His wing were on patrol in the outer most section of Polaris. Polaris was pretty much a back-water system after the Great War and had its own share of problems rebuilding.

“Ok ladies, listen up.” He spoke into the comm, his voice taking on a commanding role. “Atlanta has ordered us to investigate a disturbance just off our patrol route.”

A moment of silence before someone replied: “Just when I was ready to go home. Were with ya, boss”

The wing moved like one soled flock of Earth seagulls and headed in the direction of an asteroid field.

Why would anyone want to be out here?

“Scanners cant lock on anything.” There was some hesitation in Gamma twos voice. “But there is something in there”

David looked over his own readings, true scans showed that something was in deed in the belt but it could just be normal interference. “Very well, Gamma two and three with me. Gamma four hold up and continue to run scans”

The comm filled with confirmations as the three Loki fighters moved into the belt. Due to the gravitational pull of Polaris the belt wasn’t that hard to navigate, but a slight mistake or miscalculation on the pilots part could prove fatal

“Hold up” Gamma threes voice came over the comm. “I’m reading a Fenris cruiser here, designation GTC Mundane”

“What the hell is a cruiser doing out here?” He said to himself as their fighters drew upon the large object.

“Gamma leader!”

“Gamma four?” David said, instinctively looking over his right shoulder as if his comrade had called from behind him.

“Under attack, five Herc fighters!”

“What!?”
“Boss, we got company!” Gamma two shot out.

He checked his readings, five more Herc fighters were approaching their position.

“Gamma four?” He said, however the comm remind deadly silent.

What the hell is going on!?

“Incoming! Rock eye missiles on approach!”

“Gamma wing, break formation and open fire!” He shot into the comm as he pulled his Loki into a deep dive. Soon following that his computer began sounded warning sirens indicating that an aggressor was going for weapons lock.

“Gamma leader, you’ve got two Herc’s on your tail!” One of his wing sounded off, her voice strapped in a tone of worry.

“I can take ‘em” He called back, twisted the Loki on its axis to avoid the weapons fire.

“Boss, turn to point 89 and I’ll cover for you!”

He did just that, he grabbed the flight stick and pulled upwards, his craft moving at ultra fast speeds, and was soon greeted with the welcoming confirmation that one of the enemy had been destroyed.

“Great shoot, Dix!” David called.

“Ain’t nothing to….” The comm went dead.

From the port window, Dix’s fighter exploded.

“Were the hell did those ships come from!?” Admiral Gorgan called over the alert klaxons.

“Unknown, sir!”

“Admiral, incoming jump signature. We’ve got two hostile Orion destroyers on approach, detecting multiple fighter craft being launched!”

Gorgan paced the bridge of the Atlanta, no sooner had he ordered an investigation of the local asteroid field three wings of enemy cruisers jumped in and began fired their beam cannons on the Polaris GTVA fleet. Soon after multiple ships in that fleet had joined the aggressors.

The communications ensign turned to Gorgan: “Admiral, I have a transmission coming from one of the Orion destroyers.”

“Patch me through” Gorgan said, his voice sounded slightly strained under everything that was happening. The voice he heard sent more shock to him then when he had witnessed the Lucifer all those years ago.

“This is Admiral Aken Bosch to GTVA vessels, you are ordered to power down and surrender. Polaris intends to separate from the corrupt grasp of the GTVA”

Bosch….

“This is Admiral Gregory Gorgan of the GTD Atlanta to Admiral Bosch. Just what the hell do you think you are doing!?” He hadn’t intended it but he slammed his first onto the railing beside the walkway.

“I have already stated my intent. Surrender your remaining loyalist ships or be destroyed, this system and all its inhabitants now belong to the Neo-Terran Front”

Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
