We're in the middle of a desert?
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Screw lasers; I'm waiting for plasma weapons. Much prettier destruction.

No soft sci-fi idea has vowen itself into the hearts of TV watcher so hard and meanwhile is so blatantly stupid as plasma weapons.

In fact anything else would make more sense: rockets, guns, lasers, harpoons, partciel guns, flamethrowers, goats, radio, X-ray, antimatter....

....but no, thanks to years of infatuation with "BEAMZZ!!11!!!@" the masses keep asking for it.

Isn't plasma superheated matter?

Sounds pretty damn dangerous to me. Who needs a harpoon when you shoot something at roughly the same temperature as the sun? :p

Take a match - light it....gaze at the plasma until it burns your hand and turns your apartment on fire....

Fire is pretty much plasma. It doesn't have to be overheated.
...and even if it is I don't see the point in firing super hot flames at targets, when a missile would do the same and more since it will also generate a strong shockwave in the matter you fired and inside the targets matter during the explosion.

Also the whole containment field to keep the plasma from spilling all over the place and maintain cohesion is way too much trouble for so little gain. (With a field that strong, I would rather rip the target appart with the field itself).

Lasers make much more sense beside particle cannons seem like the only good application of plasma state projectiles.

...or a railgun loaded with tac-nukes...
...or a high power laser - can you spell: I-N-S-T-A-N-T-L-Y V-A-P-O-R-I-Z-E-D?
