Ok, so I bought a ****ty cable modem via Ebay (you can see it here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5755530832 )

I earnestly awaited shipment, but when i received the package I found that he accidentally shipped a D-Link cable modem ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5755549638&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAB:US:51 )  instead  .  I then later received an email from him that says he wants that one back and that once he gets it back he will send me the other one. I dont want to do this because A. its a hassle B. He shouldnt have been stupid and screwed this up in the first place C. I like the D-Link modem better anyway.

My view that I should keep this modem instead of getting that other ****ty one but the only thing i fear is negative feedback. What should I do, any thoughts?

Obviously, if you send it back there's no guarantee he won't scarper with your dough.

Why not just send him an email saying that you didn't receive any modem from him and don't know what he is talking about.

To tell you the truth, that sounds like a scam. Like someone else said he might just take off and you've lost $20 bucks. I agree that you just send him $10. Cause not many people are that stupid.

Ok, I made up my mind that I am not gonna send it back..... Too great a risk of getting ripped off from what you guys are saying and what I have heard from other Ebayers.

I'd say offer him another tenner to keep the D-link.

don't try to screw him; he seems like a guy who just made an honest mistake... i'm sure he'd love for you to just pay him $10.00 extra and you keep the D-Link, but if you check the D-Link auction, someone else won the modem (that you now have), and in the end that person's going to be the one that suffers.

if he was going to "scalp" you, he'd have done it already... the fact he sent you the modem in the first place is proof that he's an honest person.  it's a mistake that could happen to anyone, and that i've experienced a few times myself.

i say send it back to him, and let him send you the modem that you rightly won
