The guy who ressurrected it had been trying for 10 years! to get some interest...

Looks like he finally did it. And what's more the hardcore fans seem pretty happy with it from what I can hear so far :)

Well, it's kinda like Enterprise, they aren't going to mix the 'old' thinking and the 'new' effects perfectly at first.

Doctor Who hasn't really taken itself seriously since Tom Baker, I think it's a bit of a pity they tried to resurrect it that way, but then, the Doctor was more of a Cereberal Hero than, for example, Buck Rodgers. And I hope the series will remember that, he was far far better at out-thinking than out-fighting.

Spoiler:
Well to be fair in this one he did try to talk peace first. Most sci-fi hero's wouldn't have bothered.

BTW what is this war he refered to? Something from the original series or a new addition?

Humanity fought a war with the Daleks, Cybermen and just about every major alien race except the Galafreyans according to a timeline I found one time.
So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

There are only 10 types of people in the world , those that understand binary and those that don't.

I haven't actually seen all of the latest one yet, only bits and pieces. While there still looks like room for improvement, I would say there is a lot more 'understanding' of Dr Who and the intent of the original material was than, say, Hitch Hikers, and the first couple of series of Enterprise, so I'm hopeful :)

For some reason he reminds me of Chris "Rimmer" Barrie.

Oh and I know this is a Brit thing, but a group of episodes is called a Season not a series.  The show as a whole is a Series.[/sarcasm];)

Christopher Eccleston is a proper actor - Shakespeare and stuff at the theatre.

I thought he did a good job - there was a manic edgy feel to his character that definitely added something to the normal way of performing the Doctor, I liked it..

The last 'series' I watched every week was Stargate - the 1st one, since then, nothing has interested me enough to watch every week...

Nonsense. The show as a whole is a show. That's why you have the word. :p

Only the Americans would invent the word season to describe the run of a TV show and then proceed to televise it over 2 or 3 actual calandar seasons  :p

Correct.

I just watched it, and it was great! :D Can't wait for the next one now...

Lib: I think I know where you're coming from with the Rimmer comparison - Eccleston's a funny looking bloke, like Barrie. Big ears, big nose.
Any fool can pull a trigger...

Actually,I think it's the hair for some reason.  Although Rimmer never wore his short like that.

Also, I was being vaguely fecitious about the season/series thing...
