I've read the Pope wrote a letter which stated he would resign when he was judged (due to the Parkinsons') to be no longer mentally competent; problem is, which cardinal would be willing to claim that?

The other thing is, he is totally dedicated to being Pope; it's his life.  I doubt he'd resign voluntarily, even if his health is collapsing.

BTW this thin' about him confirmin' 17 new bishops. The hearty can't speak. Anyone think that th'priest hied in, hung about for five minutes an' then just said t'everyone outside "Hey! The pope just made us all bishops. Where do I hie t'collect me pay raise?"
