Nice. :)

Though the code was released in 2002, not 2001. :p

FreeSpace 2 Source Code Released
- Posted by: IceFire @ 04:13 PM CST - Post Comment

Take a breath people, this is a very momentous and historic occasion for the FreeSpace community and for all FreeSpace fans. FreeSpace 2 Source Code has been released.

All of the countless changes, fixes, and modifications that we've all wanted to make to FreeSpace 2 are now possible. I am the last person to ask about the possibilities that this opens up for projects like The Babylon Project, but its definately a major event.

Download the source code here.

No doubt more on this later.

A bit of history. ;)

Also, the official SCP site is @ scp.indiegames.us; it's easier to find the releases there, although more people hang around HLP to help.

On a side note, I think it'd be cool if the article ended with the mini of this pic (Maybe flipped so the Perseus flies left to right, it's more symbolic that way):

Although I am, of course, a little biased. ;)

Sweet! Although only us westerners would get that symbolism. It's all relative, you know?

Admittedly, primarily westerners will be the ones reading the article in the first place.  Though the whole "into the future" thing only lends itself to a comparison really.
who needs a signature? ;)
It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

Well, yeah, although I figure anyone reading english will be used to the left->right being seen as 'going forward' since that's the way the language is laid out.

I don't know if the same would go for Hebrew, or whatever, actually. The Romans viewed the whole time thing as walking backwards, since you can 'see' what's come before, but can't see what's coming up.

I'm preety sure "up" is symbolic to all mankind.
actualy, mabye not.
"When ink and pen in hands of men Inscribe your form, bipedal P They draw an altar on which God has slaughtered all stability, no eyes could ever soak in all the places you anoint, and yet to see you all at once we only need the point. Flirting with infinity, your geometric progeny that fit inside you oh so tight with triangles that feel so right."

Actually, any orientation would make sense, because this is Freespace.  There really isn't an up or down in space. Would you even be able to tell you were if you didn't have a point to refer to? Probably not. Let's make it 3D. :p
