...looks like crap. All pixellated and stuff. The Inferno one (I think that's what it was originally from) works much better for beam impacts.

Does anyone have/know of a better-looking version for the mediaVPs?

Well, I reworked more than I wanted, but it turned out to be pretty cool.

Use it if you want to. It uses a altered weapons_expl.tbl (from the MV pack).

Well, shots won't show much of it....

(28 frame DDS EEF, 256² size)

It may cause better performance on systems with a slow CPU.

:) Or perhaps the blue version?

I start to like it somehow.

BTW the new missileHit looks good for beam impacts, but bad for missle hits...

Blue flak looks to much like a drug trip.

Blue flak does make it look really....different. It suppose a mod that takes place after the FS2 storyline ends could use it as "next generation flak"
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Blue flak, I think, comes from the plasma bugs in the Starship Troopers movie.

At least, that's where I got it from.

I wonder if flak is ballistic, and whether FS2 ships can produce ammunition for it on the go or whether it has to be supplied. If both the former are true, energy flak would simplify logistics greatly, altogether it would put more stain on the ship's reactor (assuming that's what FS2 ships use!).
Long time ago, you see, there was this thing called the VBB and... oh, nevermind.

The different look was the idea of the blue flak. Sometimes i need something new.

@DaBrain: Gar nich wahr. Sieht ja wohl aus wie ne Flak.

I dunno, blue doesn't look too flakish, unless it's some sort of energy weapon. I don't think the flak in FS2 was supposed to be an energy weapon, considering that the explosion looks like your everyday something-went-boom explosion. It could've easily been something more rainbowy-colorful, if they wanted.

I would like to have a WW2 type flak explosion, that leaves a good pile of smoke behind.Would very cool.

That's pretty much what FS2 flak does, except it leaves no smoke. I guess because it is hard to see black on a black background. :p
