Okay, so I can manage to do -everything- else in the mission...but I can't disable the dragon. What am I doing wrong? I can get behind it, I keep shooting with the Advanced-D....but nothing...

You've targetted the engines using the S key so you can see whether they are getting damaged right?

Yes, but that still does nothing...I can barely get through the shielding, and when I do, I can't seem to damange the engine subsystem. And by that time, the shields have restored themselves :(

If you don't do much damage to the hull, the AI won't maneuver so well and you can disable the engines relatively easily. Not doing much damage means that the hull should be more than 80 per cent.

I can also suggest you use the mouse for precise aiming and the match speed feature.

Hit it with another cannon until the shields are down, then switch to the D advanced

Try to save your wingmen and get them to help you.  It's pretty hard for the Dragon to dodge disruptors coming at it from three directions. :)

If that doesn't work, just call in Delta wing and jump out.

Will that really win the mission? Hmm, I'll have to try that some time.....cheater.

The wingmen seem to kill the dragon, not disable it...

God, that's a good idea. Why didn't I think of it?  Just remember not to give them any missiles.

basically all you need to do is use the Prometheus to carefully strip away Arjuna 1's shields (it takes them a long time to recharge) and then go in with D-Advanced weapons blasting. :)
To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet, only one grain will grow. - Metrodorus of Chios
I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

Bring it's shields down with missiles and let your lackeys disable it while you kill everything else.  I've never been able to do it myself, but it's always done before I run out of non-Dragon targets.

I usually just stick on its tail and plug it with Disruptor fire continuously.  It takes down the shields and disables it with out too much headache (granted, I play on Easy).  My pet peeve however, is with the wide cannon placement on the Ulysses, which makes converged fire on fighters impossible.  I'd prefer to use a Valkyrie instead, but A} you can't customize your craft or loadout for that mission, and B} the Advanced Disruptor can ONLY be mounted on the Ulysses and was pretty much created by :v: specifically so this mission wasn't impossible to complete.  However, making that weapon widely available in later missions would make some of them too easy, thus its use was severely limited.  I would have liked to be able to load out the Herc or Valkyrie with it.
