and i don't.. besides, i've gotta fork out over 600 bucks australian for the damn thing (about 120 or so for frieght)
For the Viewsonic you mentioned? That seems very high for a 19" CRT...isn't that around $450 USD?
and it seems, that much to my chagrin, the store i was gonna buy it from doesn't stock them no more.
yeah, unfortunately high end CRTs have all been out of production for a while and are increasingly difficult to find. And the best ones, those based on the SuperBright Diamondtron tube, had horrendous quality control in their last few months of production, so the few that are still available have such a high defect rate that you are better off getting a used one. I got
this one about two months ago, which was arguably the absolute best monitor of any type out there under $3000, but went through
three replacements before I got a properly working one, and even then only because the fourth one happened to be manufactured over a year ago and was still new. At least their RMA system is very good.
By the way, back on topic, even with all the fancy hardware specifications on the 360, does anyone else think that 512MB of shared memory is quite low compared to everything else? That sounds like it might lead to fewer or blurrier textures in games. The textures in the latest computer games are quite underwhelming compared to some things a few years ago, but they are still much better than the ones in console games.
