Does anyone know of the MechCommander 2 equivalent of HLP? I forgot how ugly the graphics were, and am wondering if MODders have enhanced things any.

You are asking the right person. Unfortunately, he does not have the right answer.

Unfortunately, there have been no graphical improvements. The last remaining home of MC2 modding on the 'Net: http://www.dropshipcommand.com/forum/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=15

Get Magic's Unoffical Expansion if you don't have it. Worth playing. Extremely difficult, but if all else fails you can mess with the mission files and knock out whatever you find most offensive pre-mission.

There has been an unofficial patch that added new mechs and vehicles. Finally someone managed to breakup the files. But I also don't know there has been any sort of graphical enhancement. Sad, but the game is still fun.

Reminds me, that I have somewhere the first 5 missions of my own custom campaign laying around on my HD :)

It's been a long time since the last time I played it. And I've been trying to play it recently, but the game keeps crashing. The videos seem to freeze the game after couple of seconds (both intro and in-game).

I think I had Voodoo 4 the last time I played it, and it worked.
Now I have Radeon 9250, and it doesn't work...
I think I should upgrade my drivers, that should help.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else had this problem?

I didn't liked MC2 very much...still waiting if their would be a MC3.
Still I prefer MC1 ^_^

Check if there is a file called badcard.csv and and vidcard.csv in the main MC2-Folder.

Either one of these is responsible for graphical problems (no idea while they are included anyway). Delete them (but make a backup, for any case) and then it should work.

@Lars :

From a tatical standard MC1 was a little better (and also in the story). Unfortunately it is only low resolution

Yeah. I've tried that already... Strange thing is, I think it made the game a bit less unstable. But it still freezes too soon to be playable...
And the annoying thing is that I actually paid for this game... :mad2:

Well I prefere tactic over graphic in this case. Sure a MC game with a graphic engine that looks like HL2 would be greate but if the tactic in a tactic game isn't their I would still dig up the old version.

Maybe after Wing Commander we should think about a MC mod. ^_^
