I get a error message when i run fso build 3.6.7 which is as follows:


Error: Web cursor bitmap not found.  This usually means that the executable is being run outside the directory you installed Freespace2 to.  Please move the executable to that directory and try again

what does that mean

From my FAQ.

I've seen two main causes for this one.

   1. You've put the FS2_Open .exe file somewhere other than your Freespace 2 folder. FS2_Open and the launcher MUST be in the main Freespace2 folder or they won't work.
   2. You've deleted (or somehow corrupted) your standard vp files. A lot of people assume that the media VP files replace the standard FS2 ones. They don't. They merely add to them. You'll probably have to reinstall FS2 to get them back if you deleted them.

ah i do in fact need to install fs2 to play open source. I thought the contrary   *sigh* well i will install fs2 then

Not your fault really. It could be made clearer than you need FS2 installed and in the same folder. The fact that this is the only error message to make it into my FAQ so far should tell you that you're not the only person to have recieved it by making incorrect assumptions

I've changed the error message to the following:

Web cursor bitmap not found.  This is most likely due to one of three reasons:
1) You're running Freespace Open from somewhere other than your Freespace 2 folder;
2) You've somehow corrupted your Freespace 2 installation;
3) You haven't installed Freespace 2 at all.
Number 1 can be fixed by simply moving the Freespace Open executable file to the Freespace 2 folder.  Numbers 2 and 3 can be fixed by installing or reinstalling Freespace 2.  If neither of these solutions fixes your problem, you've found a bug and should report it.

Hopefully this should cut down on future reports.

yeah i had fso on my old comp. I got a new comp. I want fso on it. i dident know. oops. well the game has been found and it has been installed and files moved.
