Viewing modelled cockpits...
I see that most of the ships have eyepoints that are too high for the cockpits, and i also find that the maps used for the cockpits look extremely FS2 retail-ish. not very SCP-ish. :p

as for the cockpits, is it possible to move the eyepoint down a bit and make it look like the map for the HUD act like the retail HUD? it would bring a more cockpit feel to it. :)

I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

Re: Viewing modelled cockpits...
I use PCS to fix the eyepoints so I can use the cockpits for ****s and giggles, but most of the models have support struts and the like in the way so it's not really useful anyway. As for the map acting like the HUD...refer to Raa's post.

Re: Viewing modelled cockpits...
That reminds me. The cockpit texture has a large empty space in it that could, with alpha transparency, be used for the cockpit glass texture, saving memory. At the same time we could make the little guy's HUD transparent, so at least it LOOKS like a HUD on clear plexiglass.

Call me dumb, but since search function is broken I don't know where else to go for this, but how can I view the game from cockpit view for the ships that have it all set up and ready?  Don't know how to get to it.

Re: Viewing modelled cockpits...
Make a modular table, say "cockpits-shp.tbm" (the -shp.tbm is important, it tells FS2 that this is a modular ship table).

Then in it:
Code: [Select]
#Ship Classes

$Name: GTF Perseus
$Flags: ("show ship")

$Name: GTF Hercules
$Flags: ("show ship")

#End

And so on for all ships that have 3D cockpits.

Re: Viewing modelled cockpits...
Obviously not :doubt:. I had a vasudan mesh from bob, I asked him if I could use it for a cockpit, he okayed, since the pilot itself already had a map, what was left to do was the cockpit and some gear for the pilot, which textures I planed to put on the terran cockpit map (coz why having two maps when you can have one?), then I got lazy, then I go fed up, then I left.

Re: Viewing modelled cockpits...
As for the transparency issue, the glass still has to be a seperate texture.  Getting it right otherwise is almost random.  But if the Vasudans use the same instrumentation as Terran pilots, it makes perfect sense to consolodate the maps.  If I hadn't already started relying on that black space for black textures, anyway.
