What is the difference between capital ship flags ("cruiser" "corvette" "capital")? All can be destroyed with non huge weapons (just tested) and AI doesn't seem to differ very much (not so bright with these ones). IIRC there is some sort of damage reduction system but could someone please tell about it in some detail? I'm using WMCs armor tables so could these influence this as they can be used for similar damage reductions?

"cruiser" doesn't prevent destruction by non-huge weapons, while "corvette" and "capital" do.  I don't know what the difference is between "corvette" and "capital" though, other than what briefing icon each is assigned by default and (I know, it's random) how quickly each makes a ship rotate in the techroom/lab.

EDIT: If you can destroy a capital or corvette with a weapon not marked "huge" in the table, something's wrong.

Another diff between corvette and capital, scanning the former scans the entire ship, while capital and above limits to scanning subsystems one at a time... although this can be toggled on and off for all classes with a new SEXP.

I could destroy any "corvette" or "capital" by non-huge weapons... As long as there weren't the "big damage" flag included which seemed to scale non-huge damage down ie. same non-huge hit that would drop HPs by 5% when ship had 50 % HP left dropped only 1% when it had less than 10 % left.

So the differences between these classes are briefing icons, techroom rotation and scanning? No real gameplay issues?

There may be AI changes as well, likely slight tho.
